Ketika Durian Runtuh-Ada ada saja

It’s not something uncommon to see news in TV about catasthrope or weird phenomenon in Indonesia; yah banjir, yah longsor, yah gempa, yah angin puting, etc. So, when there is a TVC that shows exactly like a news program, Brita Utama, announced that there is a car stuck on the roof of a double storey house with lots of people watch from far, almost everyone believe it is true!

It grabbed almost everyone attention. I mean, imagine how strong the wind is, even a car is flew until the roof~! For sure, people want to know what happen, where, why, how and so on.My dad even sms-ed his friends and they said it’s somewhere in Brastagi which just kena strong wind sth like that lately. -__-”

I first saw it one week ago when I was unpacking my stuffs. It shows so many times on every channel, some more it’s during news hours 5pm-6pm. So my family and I thought that it’s part of the news program. We waited for the full news, but there is no follow up. And if it’s really true, how come it’s not on the newspaper? We started to question the truth.

The next day, it shows a car on top of a bus stop. This time it looks less real. We realize it’s part of a promotion. Everyday it shows a car on top of different location; on the tree, on the sea, etc. I realize the Brita typeface looks so familiar, like Britama. Maybe they wanna give car as a prize?

Yesterday the curiosity was answered. It’s a promotion from BRI (Bank Rakyat Indonesia) called Puting Beliung sth. We will stand a chance to win a car if we open Britama account at BRI. Aha..

I wonder who did this.

Anyway, it’s 9 years since the incident of May 1998. Almost every channels has the show about it, with the victims sharing stories and so on. Sementara insiden mahasiswa Trisakti masih belum terpecahkan. 9 tahun sudah. Ckckck.

UISU (Universitas Islam Sumatra Utara), Medan, also has some internal conflict which cause burning, demonstration, the building is on status quo until further notice. No study activity, the campus was broken, the loss was predicted about Rp 20-30 M. Wah siau.. Thank God I no longer stay at the previous house where I need to pass UISU on the way back home.

Even TV drama about secondary school already shows demonstration, I hit you and you hit me back. People see people do. TV – real life, all become a circle. Sigh.
