Aplaus Fiesta (part 2)
I shall continue yesterday post on Aplaus Fiesta. I managed to catch the fashion show with the sponsors: Sogo, Bellagio, Body & Soul, etc. Actually I would love to see Sofyan Kwan’s fashion show on Saturday night. Nah, let gone be by gone.

I stand at the wrong side for I only see the models’ back. -___-” The main camera is at the other side. Come look at me and the camera here sweetheart…
They made me jealous with their long sleeky leg. I wish I could have one, one pair I mean and not one leg only of course.
I like this one at the left side, from the hairstyle to the clothes. Ahh.. I wish I have such a long sleeky leg, slim and tall like them. Dream on babe.
Anyway, from all of Aplaus’ designers work at the showcase, I like this one the most, by Mahadi Erick. Very cun.
After all, the event was great. I’m proud of it and the team behind it. Sesuatu dari anak Medan untuk anak Medan sendiri. Bagus untuk perkembangan dunia desain dan tulis menulis. Hope to have it every year
Aplaus Fiesta (Part 1)
I spend my Sunday at Sun Plaza from 2pm to 8pm. Yes, freaking 6 hours in the mall. 3 hours for lunch and tea time, catching up with each others. It’s good to see the old friends.
Another 3 hours walked around, went in shops, stopped by the atrium to see Aplaus Fiesta.
I met and greeted Yenny. My first time seeing her in Medan after 6 months here. =P It’s good to see her again after such a long time. But, she’s busy with her job coordinating the show, so no chit chatting this time.
The MC Arie Dagienks.
There is TAROT READER, Rp.25.000. We wanted to try it, but somehow canceled it.
APLAUS COLLECTION corner sells stuffs that were designed by Aplaus’ designers. T-shirt, cap, mug, pin, and birthday card.
APLAUS PHOTOGRAPHY, 30 pieces of photography from the expedition “Setapak Sumatra”. All by Aplaus’ photographers.
APLAUS TALENT, live demonstration from the creator of the comic strips in Aplaus tabloid such as Joni Ooh Joni and Peppermint.
APLAUS SPOTLITE, you can take pictures like a celebrity on the red carpet, 3 pictures in a CD.
APLAUS SHOWCASE, shows the designers work.
WALL OF FAME, with the finalists artwork.
And, here is the winners for the cover design competition.
Here is the finalists’ essays.
Take picture with Nensi first. Nensi is one of the characters in Aplaus with the column “Kuis Pintar Nensi”.
After that, we have a small gathering among the high school friends. The one who took this picture didn’t wanna be inside. Anyway, I just realize that one of the top questions when meet the old friends is, do you have a boyfriend/girlfriend already? Finally someone is no longer single. Yes, Lolo is attached. The Teh Botol for this afternoon is the celebration for that. -__-”
There is people who just in a relationship, people who just break up, people who has been in a relationship for years, and people who is single. Among all, I am holding the record for having the longest relationship, 3 years plus. Nah, just hope that it will last forever and ever.
Tired tired tired. It’s time to go back. Singles or someone like me with the far away punya boyfriend, transportation will always be a problem. Taxi is the solution. Single woman is a good target for them. This time around we don’t need to discuss the fee with the taxi driver until get mad. EXPRESS taxi has a good service I think. We get the taxi inside the mall’s carpark. It’s damn worthy if you take it with friends. It uses meter with minimum fee Rp.20.000. If the fee is below Rp.20.000, you will be charged Rp.20.000 still. It’s Vios eh~! Normally taxi like MATRA will charge at least Rp.25.000 to Sun Plaza with damn rude driver.
I’m gonna have a good sleep tonight. There is still pictures on the fashion show. Tomorrow only adjust and upload liao.
A gloomy Sunday
It’s a gloomy Sunday as the sun is hiding somewhere behind the cloud. Well, perhaps she has played too hard last night, resulted her didn’t get enough sleep. Therefore still has no energy to shine as bright as usual.
Anyway, I am still so damn pissed off because of yesterday thing. It’s the continuous interview from last weekend. This time around I should be meet up with the Boss. But nah, instead of seeing him, I was asked to wait for about 30 minutes, sat there like gong kia to know that he cannot come. Wtf?
You asked your manager to make appointment and this is the result? Does being a Boss means you can do whatever you want to do? Does being a Boss means your time is very important and therefore you don’t like to wait and waste your time? How about me? My time isn’t less important than yours wei. Kanasai. The company won’t grow big with a Boss like you.
It’s not like I have confirmed that I want to work in the company and just waiting for the Boss confirmation. No! I myself still want to consider once the Boss said about the salary and work thing. Fucking waste my time. And I just remember that next weekend I will start my Mandarin class and I’ve agreed to make the 3rd appointment. Ai si. Should’ve consider again, if I really don’t want, better don’t go.
Ah let’s put those thing aside. Off to take bath and beautify myself first before the girls come. Hopefully it wont’ rain.
The most happening event in town (AAM)!!
The greatest design and essay competition in town is coming to the end. The winners will be announced tonight at Sun Plaza atrium hall with tonnes of shows. It will be huge, great and crowded.I’m referring to AAM ( Aplaus Abdi MahaKarya) by Aplaus tabloid. A bit about Aplaus, it is a free lifestyle tabloid in the town, delivers in the readers hand on the saturday, once in two weeks time. When it comes, me and the colleagues will fight over it, see who get to read it first. Lol.
Anyway, AAM is the biggest design and competition in the town, I would say. This is their first time. It was said that there is 140 participants in the design competition with Medan-Kuliner town as the theme, and 58 participants in essay area.
Tonight there will be lots of shows from 6pm to 9pm at Sun Plaza, the most happening mall in the town. There will be singers from Jakarta; Gail ex ‘Yovie & The Nuno’ with Arie Dagienkz as the MC of the night and Ben Kasyafani as the VJ. Besides announcement of the winners, there will be fashion show by Sofyan Kwan, local designer, with the theme ‘Journey of Evolution’ and tarot reading.

One of the Pak Tuntung’s cartoon srips.
The shows doesn’t end tonight. For tomorrow, there will be Peppito Band, Fashion show ‘Street Glamour’, Street magic, etc. There will be live demonstration on Pak Tuntung character (the comic strip in Analisa Daily) too. Not only that, the comic strips in Aplaus will be exposed too. During that 2 days, there will be exhibitions, from Aplaus Showcase to Wall of Fame AAM, etc. Whoa!! It’s gonna be the most happening show and competition in the town. I plan to catch tomorrow show with the besties
Oh, today’s Aplaus is talking about awards and winning, with one of article - “Winning Advertising Awards: What’s it all really about?”. Text by Janet Lee and translated by Yenny, two wonderful women I ever know. 95%’s award winning students is in the article too, with the Crowbar 2007’s pictures.
Reading the article, I was brought back to the training room and travelled through time. Insight, target audience, strategies, ideas, I haven’t been dealing with them for such a long time. Sigh. I like advertising but I don’t like the having-no-time kind of life. =P
Then, the colleague asked me, he is always the one with so many questions in head -___- ,”if you were to choose between winning an award or having a smooth successfull business, which one will you choose?” Well, I think it depends on the field. If it’s advertising, I’ll choose award for it will bring fame and acknowledgement, successfull business will follow later on.
I’m really looking forward the shows. Weekend is more colourful this time
Be careful of 2 way mirror
There was once a case in Indonesia where the video of the celebrities changing clothes in the changing room was being exposed to the public. It was known that the mirror is actually a 2 way mirror, means not only we can see our reflection but also the person behind the mirror can see us while we can’t see him. There is a way to check whether it’s a normal mirror or 2 way mirror. Put the nail on the mirror surface. If there is a gap between the nail and the nail’s reflection, that means you are safe because it’s a normal mirror. But if the nail touch the reflection directly, be careful because it is a 2 way mirror.
I always practice this while in the public toilet or changing room. Be extra careful is better than find out the video or pictures of yourself naked while changing, around the cyber space.
Looking forward to the weekend
The picture above pretty much describes about my daily routine. Everything is so monotone although lately I’ve been quite overwhelming with freelance, writing and the current office work. Done with the freelance thing, I feel sudden empty or should I say, too much space. It’s better to be busy, busy and busy with work.I don’t know what to do after this. I want to watch Oh Dal Ja’s Spring but mum wanna watch the earlier episode. I wanna online longer, but I’ve exceed the 50 hours limit and I don’t dare to check the status now. Some more my lil bro wana use it later. So, TV and laptop cannot use already. Let’s just stay away from electronic stuff and read some tabloid, magazine or books la.
The good thing is, weekend is coming. Yuhu~! Like the picture, I am so looking forward to the weekend.
It’s the time when I can relax and take some rest at home, and going out with friends. Happy weekend people!
Something about Speedy broadband
I’ve been using Telkom Speedy, the current broadband, for about 5 month, with 50 hours package per month at Rp.200.000,- plus 10% tax (total I have to pay is Rp.220.000,-). After 50 hours, we will be charge Rp.1.500,- per hour.

Nah, for Malaysia, Streamyx users should be glad because you can have unlimited broadband at RM88 for 1Mbps, and RM66 for 512kbps. While in Indonesia, with about the same price, we can only get 50 hours (2days 2 hours nia wei!!) or 1GB with 384Kbps. For unlimited one, it cost Rp.750.000!!! Plus 10% tax, that’s freaking expensive.
It’s so often that people will ask whether to choose 50 hours package or 1GB package. Both is at the same price, Rp.200.000. From what I see, hear, and experience, for person who would like to download stuffs, open pages with such a huge capacity, those inquire a lot of byte, 50 hours package is suitable. If you just use it to open email, chatting, for surfing the cyber space only, then 1GB is worthy.
But, if you exceed 1GB, the next 1 MB is Rp.500. Count it yourself, if exceed 100MB = Rp50.000. I think 50 hours package is more worthy if you exceed the limit.
Another thing is, when people apply Speedy at the end of the month. No matter when you apply and your first time connect to Speedy, the payment will be counted from 1st of the month to 30/31 of the month. The payment itself is on 20th of next month. So, if you get your Speedy on 25th or around end of the month, just bang it and maximize the 1GB usage. Download whatever you need to download.
Study this, work as that
Mr. A studied law but ended up open his own car garage business or Ms. B studied fashion design and ended as a secretary in a firm. Those are very common scene in the society. What we took in University doesn’t mean it is what we will work as after graduate.
Some go overseas took business or marketing but came back for good and continue the Char Kue Tiaw family business. Or some continue the family shop business. I wonder why do they went and pursued degree if they will end in the field that need no study. Well, something that you can learn from your senior and through experience. Perhaps that is for the sake of getting a degree in their hand? So when people ask, they could say they went to so and so university with this degree and honour.
Yes, I know, so many degree holder nowadays. Diploma is just small thing. When I went for interviews in the hometown, people will ask me why don’t continue my degree. It’s a question that don’t need to be answered I think. Who don’t want to pursue degree but Diploma? So obvious that money is the problem wei. Give me money and I will go study. I rather have Diploma in hand than stopping my Degree halfway due to financial problem.
Ah..That’s life.
