When water turns into an enemy

Water is an important thing in our life. But if it comes in a large scale, it will turn into a disaster. Even an hour of a very heavy rain will turn into flood. It’s not like I live in some kampong area. I live in the town area, in Medan, the 3rd largest city in Indonesia that has so many tall building in progress and it still can have.. flood! Wtf?

That’s the view of the street in front of my house after 1 hour of the heavy rain. The water level has getting higher and higher. It has reached half of my father’s Isuzu Panther’s tyre. The neighbourhood’s car, Daihatsu Xenia has pretty much the same situation. Well, I think it answers the question of why there is more SUV and MPV cars than Sedan cars in Medan. Let’s see who can drive a BMW on the road that has so many pimples and in the middle of the flood.

Not long after that, the bathroom was flooded with the water that came out from the drain area and the tile itself. It wasn’t a problem if it didn’t flood out.

Just when we thought that we were safe and can relax, we found out that the water came out from the ground’s tile too. Wtf? That’s the risk when the house is lower than the street. No wonder people nowadays competes in building a higher house, I mean the ground floor is much higher than the street.

Before the water level in the house was getting higher and higher, parents, brother and I quickly clean it together. It’s been a long time we didn’t clean the house together like this.

We mopped it, swept it, and threw the bucket of water to the bathroom. Then it came back again. It was a never ending cleaning because the water kept coming out from the tiles. Damn! We’ve been throwing more than 50 bucket of water, big and small size one.

Then, stupid idea came out. I tried to close some of the water source with Faber Catell Tack It out of my curiosity. Well, it succeed~! But then the water came out a few cm from the original location and I closed it again. =P Tack It did help a bit though. Great Tack It, it’s not only for stationery but also a helpful thing in urgent situation, like what happen to my sandal before. I should bring it along anytime anywhere.

Tired, tired, tired. From the head to the toe. Take a break for a while. A cup of Tiramishu Ice cream and juice made up the day. It took more than 4 hours to clean the whole house. From 2pm after the lunch to 6pm something. What a day!

Thanks God it’s not happen on the weekday when there is only my mum and the worker at home. Luckily we are not going outstation today and that tomorrow is still holiday so all of us can rest at home.
