The 1st mandarin class went smooth. We agreed to start from the basic, from ‘b p m f – d t n l – etc’ and the 4 tones even though some of us can speak, can understand, can write a bit of the Chinese words. That’s because the pronounciation and the pin yin is important.
Those two things are quite a problem because we are so used with the pronounciation in Indonesia language. For example, brother – we will write “ke-ke” instead of “ge-ge” or like – we will write “si huan” instead of “xi huan”. What to do, that’s the way we pronounce (in Indonesia language) since kindergarten that s-i = si and not xi and so on.
Ah well, since we wanna learn it, might as well learn the proper one from the beginning. We need a strong foundation to build a house then only a stair to go to the next level. So, there is no need to rush and skip the basic level.
It’s gonna be a hectic weekend with freelance work and mum’s work. Oh my… No days without facing the laptop and doing design. Sigh..
