Medan is well known for the foods. When the Malaysian friends asked me what were the interesting places to visit in Medan, my immediate answer was ‘the makan-ing places’. No doubt, Medan is one of the culinary towns in Indonesia. More and more eating place is born, from the road side one to the restaurant. I decided to blog about the makan-ing place from now on. ;)

GoldenGarden

Let’s start it with this seafood restaurant located at Petisah area, Golden Garden.

The place is quite huge. It was said to be able to accommodate 60 tables for special occasion such as birthday or wedding dinner. Part of it was covered with tent and some part wasn’t. It also has playground for the kids.

We can pick the type of fish, crab, prawn, etc by ourselves with the staffs’ help of course. Everything’s fresh.

The prawns’ size go from the small one to the big one, with the length of - about half of my arm. Whew!

There was so many menus and we decided to ask the staff to recommend some of their best. We waited for a while and the dishes were served one by one. First one, tofu with Abalone sauce. It’s so smooth and soft like the rounded shape Japan tofu. Like it.

Everyday is a chicken day. The next dish is Chicken Mango. So crispy and sour too.

Next one, Grill Fish. So yummy plus the sauce.

It’s a seafood restaurant, so prawn should be on the table. This Nestum Prawn is great.

The last dish is ‘Terung/terong’. It was cooked until so crispy that I didn’t even realize that it is a ‘terong’.

I was so full and satisfied with the food, the place, and the service. Time to pay for the bill. Total Rp.180.000++. Well, 5 dishes for 4 persons, it’s reasonable. The expensive one is the grill fish, Rp.85.000. They have a discount for this particular credit cards holder; BCA, BII and one more bank I can’t recall the name. Afterall, this place is great and it’s worth a second visit.
