A simple prayer
“Asking for health and safety of your family from God and Goddess may seem simple but it is the hardest prayer ever. If you ask for wealth and fame, you could get it by working harder. If you ask for health and safety, then God and Goddess must protect you by your side 24 hours, that’s more tiring than a security guard.”
That was part of the conversation in the Taiwan Hokkien Drama with 500 over episodes, Yi Nan Wang / The Spirit of Love, that’s aired on Astro 9.30pm Mon – Fri. The scene when Mr.Lai, LiQing and their long lost daughter LiZhu were praying at the temple and met a friend there. The words were sort of a joke but it makes sense.
Since I was a kid, I was told to ask for health and safety in my every prayer. I thought, everyone or every family must have a guardian angel by their side. Else God and Goddess must be very busy have to take care of so many people in this world. If they are in Indonesia now and suddenly heard of a yelling of help from China, then they’ll have to fly there. Hah! Kid’s imagination. As I grow up, I become greedier. I not only ask health and safety for the family but also for everyone in the world. Ka liau lang ping ping an an.
Well, if I were to use the logical mind, I will never understand how this God and Goddess thing work. But I supposed religion is not a logical thing but a mixture of so many elements including mystic. Ah, whatever. I will still pray for the same thing and do what I can do to make it real.
