Rest in Peace, Pak Harto
“Soeharto has passed away,” said my friend when she came to my house this afternoon.
“What? That can’t be true. This morning 8am I saw the news said that he was getting better,” said the other friend.
“Yeah, that’s 8am. Thing changed. I heard that he passed away at 1.30pm.”
Oh my… The local TV stations had reported about his condition for the past few weeks. Last week, he was said to be in a very critical condition before getting better for the past 2 to 3 days. That’s what I know from the newspaper.
My condolences to the big family. Well, Soeharto might not be a good President for the past 30++ years. But, I still prefer the life when he was the number 1 person in Indonesia. Although I couldn’t learn Mandarin, saw Lion Dance, and exposed to other Chinese culture, but economy was better, business was better, gambling was allowed (unlike now), etc.
What left now is the unfinished law process of Soeharto. Let’s see what drama will occur in the country. And I believe, the Cendana family will have more drama later on after the divorce of Bambang and Halimah. Yah biasa deh, setelah yang paling tua meninggal, anak – anaknya bakal ribut dan terpecah. Well, maybe yes maybe no.
