How to say Hi / Hello in French

Every time I log in to my Flickr account, I will see the greeting in different languages near the avatar. It’s a different one every time I refresh the page. A good way to learn ‘hello’ or ‘hi’ in other languages though.
Just now I was greeted,”Salut Wiehanne!”. I stunted for a while because ’salut’ sounds so Indonesia which is ’salute’ in English. Until I saw the next line: Now you know how to greet people in French. -__-”
As far as I know, French is so weird and unique like mortgage lenders is courtier en prêts hypothécaires. Can’t believe that a ‘Hi’ is as simple as ‘Salut’.

except for the word “T” which isn’t pronounced at the end…and for the vocal “u”, u have to shave ur lip as if ur going to whistle
Simon,
Seems that it is so hard to pronounce. :S
opps, shape* not shave, salah ketik hehe,..iyo, one of the hardest language out there when it comes to pronounciation. French for us, the asian people..is like Chinese for the european.
