Migrated to Lunarpages
I am a blind man when it comes to hosting, so I leave it to the boyfriend (my superman
, my webmaster). All the while we’ve been using this cheapo, probably the worse web hosting on earth called Galaxy Webhosting. We didn’t mind with the downtime, which happened quite often and without notice first, as long as our sites could up and run smoothly after few hours.
But yesterday, Galaxy Webhosting has just done the stupidest thing ever! Let’s flash back to 29 hours before this. I woke up, turn on my computer, went to my blog and saw a white page with this words:
Fatal error: Call to undefined function: preg_match() in blablabla wp-db.php
Wtf? Fast forward, we managed to contact the support after so many hours of waiting. Like usual, the support always hide and cannot be reach when there was a problem or downtime. So kiasu, kiasi, gutless, no balls! And the answer was, they were testing on the new PHP5 (or whatever it is) hence every sites with PHP will be down.
Whoa.. They let the clients’ sites down just for the purpose of testing new PHP, very ’smart’ act! What make it worse, they were still on the so called testing after 12 hours. Hoi, I need to make living from my blogs hokay? If it was down for almost a day, that means I will have to kiss good bye to the green paper. Who gonna pay my internet bill, phone bill, my shopping spree, etc, hah?
Anyway, this is a lesson to learn. Don’t ruin your life just because you want to save some money. Sometimes you get what you pay for. You know how good thing seldom comes in good price. There will be time you could get budget software at affordable price and good quality while sometimes no.
So, the boyfriend and I have been thinking to change to a better hosting. We thought, it’s time to change. But, all those top 10 well-known hosting is so expensive hence we were in dilemma of whether we should fork out the $100++ for 2 years hosting or not.
Well, good quality thing never comes in cheap price, I am so stingy but I realize we need to invest for a better future. *full of dilemma*
Fast forward. While we were thinking whether we should settle with Lunarpages (unlimited bandwidth, unlimited space, $4.95/month which is more affordable compare to others) or not, the boyfriend received a come back coupon from Lunarpages. Woohoo! How can we say no and decline such a tempting offer? 2 years hosting – basic plan at less than $100 and it’s Lunarpages! *jump up*
The boyfriend has been working hard since last night to move our sites. We have 9 or 10, I’ve lost the count.
All the while I could only read about how good Lunarpages/Hostgator/Bluehost/(insert famous hosting here) are from others but couldn’t afford to buy one. Now I can say: finally I’ve moved to Lunarpages. *big wet eyes*

I am planning to use Dataflame, they are UK based, and shared hosting is affordable too. I had several questions before I ordered the service, and the support got back to me in 1 hours, on Saturday, in a weird hour
I hope your new host will be reliable, I know how frustrating it can be to see your website going down
Congrats and welcome to LunarPages
It’s not 100% FREE of problems but if you send an email to the support, you’ll certainly get the response in an hour or a few hours max (I’ve been with them on several accounts for several years)
Bingolady,
Yes, so frustrating especially when you have more than 1 blog and site with that hosting. Sigh.
Michael Aulia,
I’ve read your review and that added another point to consider Lunarpages.
