Wishlist #1 Canon Digicam accomplished
Yeap, I got a new digicam! Let’s flash back.
I wrote a post about Wishlist #1: Canon Digicam back in July. I was very clear that I want a new version of Canon IXUS to replace my dearest Canon IXUS 40, although I wasn’t sure which series to go for.
So when I knew about the latest Comtech expo at Sun Plaza (13 – 17 November 2008), I told myself perhaps it was time to pamper myself by getting a new digicam and to fulfill my wishlist. And, I went there on last Saturday night.
The seller introduced IXUS 80 IS (8MP, Digic 3). I almost bought it cause it was in PINK and the shape is about the same with my Ixus 40. It looked so chic and trendy. It was sold at IDR.2.295.000 with 2GB memory card.
Then he introduced the latest product from Canon, IXUS 870 IS. Oh my.. It was so beautiful and elegant with specs: 10MP, Digic 4, wide-angle (28mm) 4x optical zoom lens and many more. It was sold at IDR. 3.795.000 with 2GB memory card.
I was in dilemma. Both were beautiful but carry different image. I was fine with 8MP. But Ixus 870 IS has the latest technology. The other concern was, the price gap which was pretty huge.
After concerning this and that for about 10 minutes, I settled for Canon IXUS 870 IS. Simple reason, it is the latest product from Canon (along with IXUS 980 IS) which carries the latest technology. I assume it can last long and I can use it for another 3 to 4 years before replace it with a new one. Besides that, sometimes price does determine the quality (especially when it comes to electronic devices and gadgets).
It has 2 colors of choices, silver and gold. I chose the typical color which is silver. But they ran out of stock and left gold color only. It looked good in gold color too. So, I took it. I am oh-so-happy now. You know, the kind of happiness when you managed to get the stuff that you always want to have and you get it with your own hard earn money some more.
How about my dearest Ixus 40? Like usual, I am passing it to my brother. 
Now, I need to buy a new pouch for the new digicam.

I bought a Hp for 150.00 Euros, with a 2GB extra space, but it´s nothing special. Next time I wil go for a Cannon.

tat’s a very good camera, i got mine which is a older bro yours, a little bulkier but canon cameras are all rocks!!!

hi, i was trying to get this camera, just would like to check with you, the front of the camera is gold colour, how abt the back of it? is it the same of black colour as the silver one? or it’s another different colour? thanks!

It is around $320. My only comment is, this camera is really worthy. Love the picture’s sharpness, the function, everything.

seems like i made the correct decision…
but what i heard from the salesman (in Malaysia) saying that the gold colour is also having black colour at the back of the camera, which made me undecisive on the colour now… i wanted gold with the dark brown colour.

Oh? You mean, there is gold (front) and black (back) version besides gold and dark brown? Anyway, you can view it here. Hope it helps.
well, i saw all the pictures of the gold colour which is the same as what you show and told me.. and always thought that the back is dark brown colour.
that’s why i was so curious when he told me the back is black colour also and i doubt that cause i always saw it as dark brown…
well, will try to go and see a gold colour one and if it’s dark brown, i will get it straight away!
