I choose to..

I was finishing my card design when the phone rang. It was from this particular company looking for me and asked whether I still have the interest to apply for graphic designer position at their company. Eh? *question mark popped up around my head* I don’t remember that I send any resume within this past few months.

But luckily I still have a good memory. I remember I sent my resume to them at the end of 2007 (more than a year ago), when I was about to resign from previous company. I got the interview at that time but I declined it due to some reason.

Medan-overview

This time around, it is still a NO from me. I’m not going back to work 8-5 anytime soon, not until we sort this LDR thing out. You know how hassle it is when both parties work full time and having LDR at the same time. Adds up the OT (read: overtime) and whatever extra work, we will be too tired to have a normal conversation via msn by the time we get back home and might ended up with quarrel. Not to forget, we will only have 10 – 12 days of paid leaves per year. There goes the communication and the frequency of meeting, which means the end of the relationship. Ugh. I don’t want this and I don’t want to go back slaving for a salary around $150 – 200 per month. That would took me years of slaving and saving to buy a tv stand and plasma tv.

So, well, I choose to… continue freelancing for now. :)

Note:
Although this is not the first time I received such a phone call, I am still surprise to know that some companies actually dig the archive of job applications when there is a vacancy and so on.

Cold joke of the day

Photobucket
This sweetie lady was one of my ‘housemates’ 2 years ago.

The actual conversation is in Hokkien dialect.

My Dad : Hm.. I think we need to change your name ASAP. *flipping through the brochure of family health insurance and the quote*

Me : Huh? I’ve been living with this name for more than 20 years eh. What’s wrong with my name? ‘Kathie’, it just sounds perfect to me. *continue clicking the mouse*

My Dad : Ya, cause thanks to that name, you eat like a cat.

Me : What the.. -__-”

Notice how my name ‘Kat’ and ‘cat’ has the same pronunciation, and the fact that cat doesn’t eat alot (is it?), I don’t eat alot too. Cold and lame, but it makes my day somehow. :P

Wanted: new webcam

I’m thinking of getting a new webcam since the current webcam is oh-so-lousy. Just view the picture quality from my Wishlist #2 accomplished post. Ugh.

And you got to know that webcam is a very helpful thing when it comes to LDR, as it is probably the only way to see your partner when both of you were separated by distance. In my case, we are separated by the Malacca strait. :P

So, there you go, I need a decent webcam now. But, I’m not sure which one to go for, the no-branded made in China kind of webcam or the trusty Logitech webcam.

I want to try Logitech but I scare there won’t be any demo. Worse, I might need to purchase it first before the seller want to open the box and let me see the demo. After that, how if the quality doesn’t live up to my expectation? *headache*

P.S. I’m open for any suggestion. Help me, please.. :D
