Preparing for vacation
I’ll off to KL + Perhentian Island (no more Redang, fully book. Bleh.) next week with Mum and bro. It will be a one-week-trip, but enough to make me busy with the preparation. Not panic with the packing but in finishing some work and finding new work. At the same time, (somewhat) taking care of my ten-year-old-cousin (from Jakarta). Not much different after one year, still that short, talkative, game-freak, good-memory. Hey, he still remembers and asks about ‘koko Andrew’.
Come to think of it, this will be the first time ever I take a proper-vacation-leave since I started my freelance career one year ago. Put aside my previous trips to KL cause I still worked like usual on weekday, except I had the chance to go out and have fun more often, but never completely left the work and computer for more than 2 days.
The bad side of being a freelancer (and the relation of taking leave):
1. working as a freelancer means there will be no one in the ‘office’ when I am away. Unlike when I was working with ‘the man’, I had colleagues that were ready to replace/resume/handle/help a bit when I was not around. So, it’s either rush the work before off for vacation or resume back after the vacation.
2 Working as a freelancer means when I am away, I cannot do the work, income will be pretty dry, which equals to unpaid leave.
The good side:
1. I can take leave whenever I want and it’s not limited to 12 – 14 days in a year.
2. Can work from anywhere, even when I am on vacation (if I choose to), as long as there is laptop and internet connection. Basically, anywhere can be the office. Like last 2 months, my ‘office’ was based in KL for almost one month. My dream would be: being able to travel around the world while working with the internet and laptop. Probably a month in New York, next month in Paris. *dream on*

Have a good hols Kat… you deserve it
Hehe, nothing wrong with the New York and Paris, it sounds really cool. Keep your dream on!
