Aplaus Fiesta 2009 Medan Art ‘n Hobby Festival

Aplaus, the local lifestyle tabloid, was back with Aplaus Fiesta 2009. They had the first fiesta two years ago at atrium Sun Plaza. This time around it was held at Griya Dome Convention Centre, from 14th – 16th August.

I dropped by on Friday night after the big heavy rain, cause I was going KL on the Saturday. The place was a bit dim that I hardly saw any sign board about the festival and didn’t even know where was the parking entrance.

The futuristic city.

This festival was a collaboration between Aplaus team and the communities of art and hobby in Medan. Besides the showcase of various artistic stuffs, there was lots of activities too. From workshops to hip hop dance. From BMX activity to skateboard activity. But since I went there at night, I only saw the skateboard ramps at the outdoor area. Too bad I couldn’t come on the last day of the festival, else it would be more fun and happening.

Good thing that they have rubbish bin there. Not that I smoke though.

Feels free to draw and express your creativity on the wall.

The handmade heaven. The highlight would be the towel craft, which I like very very much and would love to pick the skill soon.

I’m back!

I had a seven days trip to KL again, since last Saturday until yesterday. Highlights of the trip was for meet-the-parents, have fun at A famosa Resort (Melaka), my parent’s medical check up, and shopped for the W photography stuffs.

There is tonnes to blog but so little time to write and edit pictures. From the meet-up with a few of my senior high school friends to Aplaus Fiesta where they showcased lots of wonderful stuffs – such as auto accessories, the helmet, etc.

Next Tuesday and Thursday is the photo-shooting day. It will be a busy week.

Glaring at Airasia Big Sale

Not long ago boyfriend mentioned about honeymoon and I was so sure to say,”No, we don’t need it. I am fine for not having any honeymoon after the big day (whether immediately or few months after that). We can travel whenever we have the extra cash.”

But now I think I am going to take back my words since Airasia is having a BIG sale from 12 – 16 Aug, travel period from January to July next year. The flight ticket, local and international, is super duper cheap that I will feel sorry to myself if I don’t book one. In Hokkien: Tui be khi ka ki. :P

Flight ticket from KL – Shanghai starts from RM99 (one way) and KL – Melbourne is as low as RM149 (one way). But then, I can’t put aside the living cost – food, transportation, accommodation, shopping spree, etc. If convert RM into AUD, quite jialat lo. Some more, need to apply for visa for several travel destinations. So I think, the most affordable trip and hassle free would be going to Bali, the paradise island in Indonesia.

Belated birthday dinner – twenty three

The girls, Gel and Yen, celebrated their belated birthday (of hitting 23 years old) at Ta Lau Pan, last saturday night. Dress code was the floral dress – ‘souvenir’ when Gel went to Bali last month. That explains the pink floral dress that I wore on previous post’s picture. :D

With the girls and our floral dress. We looked like we were ready for a party at Myrtle beach vacation rentals or maybe Bali. But what to do, we only have Pantai Cermin here. See, my dress is longer than everyone else. So wtf. >.<

I have learnt the lesson from previous celebrations, that nobody would be interested in eating the cake after the full meal and sometimes other friend would buy a cake too. So, I thought of being smart and effective, not buying any cake cause somebody else might be doing so already. Better give something useful rather than a cake which will only end up in *ehem ehem* toilet bowl the next morning.

But guess what, nobody brought any cake! Aiyoyo.. There goes the moment of blowing candle and sings Happy Birthday song. >.< I should have bought a small cupcake or so. At least can put candle. Lesson learnt, never assume.

Anyway, since I was talking about birthday celebration from the girls, I might as well do a flash back.

February 2009 at Tea Garden. Celebrated their – Yen, Jan, Vis – belated 22 years old birthday, I think. Somebody was still single at this time and 6 months later, which is now, she is happily attached to a great man. He better treats her nicely, otherwise I’m so gonna break his arm into two. As if I can. :P

May 2008 at Pizza Hut. Celebrated Gel belated birthday, of 22 years old I think. Acap has started to grow his hair before he turns into a good-boy look like now. Weee…

February 2008 at Ria Restaurant. Celebrated their – Jan, Yen, Vis, Dewi – belated birthday, of 21 years old I think. But I bought a ’2′ and ’3′ candle cause my Dad said better count according to lunar calendar. :P Don’t ask why they were celebrating 21 and I bought 23 – differed by 2 years instead of 1 year, cause actually they were already 22 at that time. *complicated mode on* Let’s move on.

Anyway, look at Acap’s hair and the shirt. Still bad boy look. This was also the last time I met Henn before she went to Singapore and works there. :(

belated-birthday-pizza-2006

January 2006 at Pizza Hut. Celebrated Jan belated birthday of either 19 or 20. I know the candle was number 19 though. :P I was in semester 5 – final year and the girls were still in college too. It was also the era of super-flat-straight-hair (almost going to end). Just look at our hair. Lol.. I don’t know why, but super straight and flat hair looked super good back then. I should have at least go for smoothing instead, since my hair is not that thick.

So, we have come to the end of flash-back-ing. There is no birthday-celebration-pics from 2007. I don’t know where am I at that time. :P Probably the girls didn’t celebrate on that year.

It’s a sad thing to know that I won’t be in the pictures on their next year celebration (and next next year and so on) and I won’t be their photographer too. Gotta ask them to PS-ing my picture inside. Else, fetch me with the Angel’s boat from Bali la, girls~! :P

Pink Soft Toy

Last Saturday is my birthday according to lunar calendar. It was like any other Saturday where I worked half day (freelance also got schedule one :P ) and continued watching Take Me Out Indonesia show (it’s officially my favorite reality show now) on TV.

During the commercial break, I decided to go down as I heard krasak krusuk sound from downstairs, which means my bro back home already. There he was. Standing at the staircase, sang Happy birthday song while giving the gift bag to me. *terharu mode on* This is the first time ever my stingy bro gave me a bday present. I don’t expect anything also from a school boy with limited pocket money.

pink-soft-toy

I unwrapped the gift bag and *ta-da* a pinkie soft toy with birthday card. My auntie said: See, you brother so nice to you, it’s time for you to be nice and sayang him lo. -___-” I admit sometimes I can be very fierce to him, but I still sayang him.

birthday-card

What he wrote in the card:

To My Sister, Hope u jangan jutek lagi. N jangan pelit lebih royal lagi ma adek lu ini! Ni hadiah dari wa. Taon depan lagi dah gak bisa rayain lagi, jadi ni hadiah dari wa. Jaga baik2, disimpan buat anak (wa e suna).

*terharu mode on* I almost burst out in tears when I read this part “Taon depan lagi dah gak bisa rayain lagi“, read: next year can’t celebrate already. It made me realize that.. soon, I will be able to live together with my other half, but I will be apart from my family and friends. Ah, life is always about choices. You can’t have all you want.

But this part “disimpan buat anak (wa e suna)” – read: keep it for your child (my nephew/niece) – made me smile and laugh. Oh well, it will be another 2-3 years before we are ready to have Wong Jr. :P

cll-pose

Brother said that the soft toy looks like Paris Hilton’s Chihuahua – I don’t know from which angle – while putting the soft toy into his arm and trying to pose like Paris Hilton with the puppy. So, here I am in my attempt to pose like her. A CLL a.k.a Chua Lang Lo pose.

Ah yes, it was a pinkie day with pink halter neck dress (due to some occasion) and pink hair band. Too bad I don’t have a pink heel. :P Notice how my arm has two shades, thanks to Perhentian Island trip. >.<

Anyway, Thank You dearest bro a.k.a topui kia!
