Feature Portfolio

chic-blogspot-themeFeel free to browse through my portfolio, which contains selection of works that I did under simplyWP (for web design) and during the early freelancing period (for print graphic design). Girly chic is my design style, though I'm flexible most of the time.

Last Sunday on January

Time flies real fast, we are about to leave the first month of the year and soon will step into the most commercialized month of the year (thanks to Valentine’s Day). Although the first day of Chinese New Year falls on the same day as V-day, the flower shops in this town already advertised that they will be opened on that day. No matter what, flower is the favorite gifts for her (read: female) but I don’t really care cause I finally can spend V-day with my other half, I’m not gonna ask for more.

My life here is so far so good, though I found myself complaining a lot more than usual. Can’t blame me cause I’m still adapting with the new environment, lifestyle, people, family and all. So many things that I need to compromise with.

I could be keeping all those complaints myself, but it will just add on more burden to me which might result in a sleepless night, grumpy face, bad mood, silent cry at night time, etc. So yea, sharing it with someone is the best way to keep my sanity. Though it looks like I need to find other ‘ears’ to keep the sanity of that someone. :P

There are things that I can pretend not seeing, but there are some that I can’t tolerate such as the maid’s attitude. This is the first time ever I came across a maid who told you not to turn off the aircon and turn it on herself a second after you turn it off just because she is ironing clothes there. Wtf? There is ceiling fan near her ironing place, which I don’t use because my working table is so far away from the fan and that’s why I use the air-con. Damn know how to enjoy life but never done a good job.

Seriously, having a full-time maid at home is not fun at all. At first I thought my life will be easier cause there is someone cooks for us, does the laundry (using washing machine instead of hand-wash like in Medan), sweep, mop, washing dishes, wash car, prepare Milo and bread for me when I have so many design work waiting for me, etc. But NO! It is far from making my life easy.

Her cooking is far from delicious but it is edible and I don’t want to spare time for cooking so what can I complain (I miss Mum’s cooking!!!). The Milo is always too sweet and always has ants inside, not the tiny ants but quite large one that is impossible if she doesn’t see them. Every time when there is something bad happen or some stuffs are missing, all she says is I don’t know and not me. She already worked here for almost 2 years but still can’t get things done right. Ok, no need perfect and right, but at least listen and follow what we say.

I have stopped asking her to do stuffs for me, except the laundry, cooking and open the front gate for the car. Asking her doing stuffs will just add in the trouble, not making easier. I seriously can’t wait to see the new maid which will come in around 1 or 2 months. Hopefully we will get a younger one and less lazy. Sigh.

I hate maids who really think they are the bosses. Like, seriously. My friend, however, has a very nice maid. She always cooks really good Indonesian food (gudeg, soto, etc) for my friend and family. Imagine if we could get one like that. :p

I, myself, have to do everything on my own. My house doesnt have washing machine, so I have to wash clothes using hands.

    Welcome to the reality. LOL.

Whoaa, your friend is so lucky lo. Some maids tend to “climb on your head” when you treat them too good. Sigh.

  2. lol..younger doesn’t mean she’ll be more diligent than an older one.

But yeah, getting the “perfect” maid is never easy

How did you get a new maid there? Is it from an agency or do you bring the maid yourself from Indo?

Good luck finding a new one. It’s getting hard to find a good maid too here, most of them wants to work in a salon or factory so they can get more freedom.

From agency. I’m staying with in law and they hired a maid to take care of Grandpa and the houseworks. :) We ever thought of finding one in Medan (after the contract with this maid ends), but it’s also hard to find maid who can actually work. >.<
