March 2010 archive
I went out for ‘bitching’ session (my boy called it so
) with the girls on last Sunday.
When I told my Mum that we’re going to Cambridge, she was like “But it has nothing interesting to shop for? Why not Sun Plaza?”
Me replied,”Cause we’re not going for (window) shopping but chit-chatting.” Then I realized, yea hor, it’s been a while since we last went out for shopping purpose; be it to look for age spot removal or apparel. We are now more into chit-chatting and cafe-ing. A change of lifestyle or what?

But seriously, Cambridge is like the cafe paradise in Medan. If you have no idea where to spend your tea time or hang out, just drive to Cambridge and pick any cafes and restaurants, from Jco donuts to boring Starbucks, from high end restaurant like Duck King to affordable type like Solaria, you name it.

Put aside the restaurants first, the number of cafes in Cambridge mall itself is a lot more than the number of cafes in the whole Sibu town! I’m talking about the modern cafes with Air-con and nice ambience, not kopitiam with fan which sells kampua.
Nah, enough with the comparison. I’m afraid I will be missing Cambridge and the companion here when I go back Sibu. Ouch..
One of the main points of us getting married is to end the long distance relationship. LDR didn’t only make us mentally and emotionally tired but also financially broke. Okay, not 100% broke but it just seems like a waste to keep on spending on the flight ticket for years. Better spend the money on best seo software to increase our online business. Let’s not go into the details.
So, you can imagine how happy we were when we tied the knot on end of last year. Like, one burden is gone and hello to freedom. But… little did I know, it also marked the beginning of another LDR. Yes, an on-going and long term LDR with my family especially dearest Mum.

My boy and I originally planned that our next visit will be on next year Chinese New Year. But things come in and plan has to change, hence this year alone I have scheduled two trip to see my Mum. Just planned both during this 2 weeks. Let’s see my schedule:
- 2 – 28 March, which is now, fly all the way from Sibu to KL and KL to Medan. Main purpose is to settle the marriage registration and apply 3 months social visa. Aside from that, is to meet up with family and friends, indulge with Medan foods.
- 22 – 26 July, meet up with my bro and Mum in KL since dearest bro will be going to the same university (of where I graduated). I will be taking the flight alone this time while my boy taking care of our web business at home. Hehe..
- end of November (haven’t booked ticket yet, but it will be 3 days trip only), meet up with my parent at Jakarta, since my youngest aunt is getting married. My boy will be going with me, but not sure if I will go back to Medan with my parent, still thinking.
See, I basically going to see my Mum once in 3 – 4 months time. The frequency of meeting reminds me of our LDR time back then. Well, of course I’m happy that I can meet my Mum so often. What I hate is the planning and checking ticket fee (read: cheap promo time) thing. Sigh. I’ll learn how to deal with it since it seems that I can’t get away from this 3 words : long distance relationship. LDR is part of my life yea.
Finally I had a reunion session with the ex-housemates during my short visit to KL three weeks ago. Yes, this is our first meet-up after more than 3 years of graduating and walking through our own separate way.

Us, back in 2004 and 2005. Oh so long long time ago! See, I still have ‘fat / meat’ all over my arm and chest. Can I have them back puhlease?
It was on Monday, March 1st 2010, and we planned to have dinner together. I chose Sunway Pyramid to be the meeting point cause I wanted to look for luggage sets there. There were so many choices of cafe and restaurant there and I landed my choice on Full House. Yes, Full House has opened a branch there, no need to drive all the way to Niu Ze Xui and get lost liao. *happy*

Although we haven’t met up face to face for years, there wasn’t any awkward feeling. We still able to connect to each other though not as deep as before. One interesting thing is, Hokkien is still our preference dialect. But my boy and I did have a little problem in understanding their KL’s Hokkien. Probably because we haven’t heard the accent and words in ages.
Another interesting fact, we were the last customer to leave the cafe! *thick skin mode on* Well, we’ve paid the bill before 10pm but continued the chit chat session cause conversation just started to warm up. Until the Boss, or whoever he is, pulled down one of the gate, then only we knew it’s time to leave!
Well, it’s a great meet-up session. I hope there will be more in the future.
Tomorrow is a public holiday here, known as Nyepi or Balinese’s Day of Silence. We aren’t going to waste it by staying at home and slaving for our job. Instead we will join the crowd in Brastagi Highland which is 2 hours away from Medan city.
It’s been a while since I last spend a night at the cool-fresh-air-town. It will be a great getaway with the family and a chance to have a short break from computer. But we will still be able to online from the mobile-phone. Well, can’t live without Facebook and Twitter.
Life has been pretty hectic for me. No time to exercise with dip bar but no problem cause most importantly I still have time to consume more Medan foods.
Lots of things happened which makes my life to be more colorful. Lots of new experience from almost being summoned by the traffic police here to being suspected as a mental-illness girl and yet I dare to show up at the airport again later on.
So many things to be written down in this blog, but no time to do so.
Many webdesign project in our hand now and yet we have to leave them to put on driver + tour guide cap (again) for this weekend. Cause we have some family thing coming up tomorrow, so well, going to the airport to fetch my relative later on.
Last week we have been busy with the short visit of my boy’s uncle and friends. Those few days were all about “swallow bird nest”. Boring for me but it’s very interesting for them.
As for our personal stuff, we have settled the marriage registration here. Again, money talks. Sigh. We are now in the process of settling the three-months-social-pass.
Now, I can’t wait for May to come~! Hint: my long pending honeymoon.
