Bali Trip: Day 2 – Free and Easy at Kuta

Thursday May 6, We choose to take it easy and explore Kuta area ourselves on the 2nd day. After breakfast at the hotel, we go for a stroll at Legian street. During the walk, we buy hats at one of the local souvenir shop. Can’t stand to walk under the hot sun without any protection; be it umbrella, sunglass, or hat. Thanks to this, acne starts growing on my face the next day, forget to bring pronexin the acne treatment. Ugh.

Left: We are looking for mobile-phone kiosk to refill my Simpati’s credit but it isn’t open yet. So, my boy thinks of taking picture of this alley and this handsome Balinese kid immediately poses for us. :P
Right: A small alley where Blue Bird taxis keeps passing by non stop.

We just walk and walk without knowing the direction, but believe that we won’t get lost. Until we see few angmohs in beach-wear with surf board passing by, we know that we’re on the right track. And yes, we finally reach the famous Kuta beach! Can’t describe our excitement when seeing the clear blue sky, water and sand. Like heaven, but too bad we stay away from getting wet which means no water sport activity.

Top: It should be us in the picture one. Ugh. That’s the down side of travelling on our own. Can’t even ask the help from Mr. Self Timer on this sandy beach. *grumpy face*
Bottom: The beach is quite clean with less rubbish. I almost can’t believe that Indonesia, my home country, has such a beautiful place. Seriously.

What I hate is: when we just sit down on the beach chair, someone comes to us and said that we need to pay IDR50,000 for sitting there. Ok fine, we paid, since we wanted to sit down and relax after the tiring walk. After that, some local aunties comes trying to approach us to do pedi-meni, tie hair, massage, sell souvenirs, etc. We shakes our head and said no until tired also they wouldn’t give up and keeps standing there, blocking my view to the beautiful beach. KNS!

After ignoring them for like 5 – 10 minutes, we finally can have our own space. Pfiuh! The beach looks not so crowded since it is about noon time, but still got people surfing and sun-tanning there. One hour after that we decide to get back to our hotel and rest (read: watch TV and nap). The weather is just too hot for us to continue walk.

Enough of napping and staying indoor, we headed off for a late lunch at Sidoi warung again. This time at different branches which is in some hotel. Can’t recall the hotel name cause we just simply stumbled upon it during the walk. :P

My boy has sweet and sour pork rice IDR21,500 and Sprite IDR9,000. While I go for seafood fried noodle IDR25,500 and honeymelon juice IDR12,000. Total IDR78,880 includes 16% service tax.

Top: Welcome pose at the front gate of Taman Ayu Legian.
Bottom: Hello from our room’s veranda.

During night time, we decide to look for Kuta Square. Manage to find the small shopping complex and buy some T-shirt + slipper from Matahari department store. It’s a day full of walking. Yes, our legs very tired already but we have a good time together.

Day 3 will be more exciting as we rent car with driver to explore Bali island. ;)
