Oh The Joy of Wedding Day

This post was crafted on earlier this month and should be posted weeks ago. But this sad news came and me lost the mood to continue writing this happy post already. Heh, life. Today might be a joyful day; laugh and happy tears. The next day it could be a gloomy sad day; cry and sad tears.

Moving on, the wedding that I’m talking about is hubby’s friend one, where we flew back for 3 days, lucky got low cost airline. :D Not only attend, hubby was the voluntary photographer of the day using a videocam from other friend. That means have to follow the process from early morning bride’s make up session until evening wedding dinner.

Fortunately it is a small town, one place to another is just less than 20 minutes drive so the preparation for morning ceremony didn’t need to start that early. In between the make-up session and fetch bride, we still have time to check-out ps3 headset and grab breakfast.

Speaking of bride’s make-up session, yes the hair and make-up result is.. pretty, but is so 90s. Different saloon, but about the same styling with mine back in 2009. So unacceptable. The town already have a few freelance photographers and their photos are pretty good + up-to-date style. But not with the bridal styling, trapped in the 90s and can’t move forward.

I haven’t edited the pictures yet, but here’s the short video that hubby made – first time, yay! :D Video size has been decreased for uploading purpose.

Robbery Turns Death

Each day there is always something happened that reminds us how fragile and short life is. Nothing is permanent. Your scrubs uniforms can get worn, married couple can get divorce, happy family can be torn apart, and so on.

Today is one of those day. I saw a news, a husband and wife at their 30s were shot to dead by robbers right in front of their kids and babysitter. Happened recently, back in my hometown. Very heart-breaking and sad. :(

Imagine the toddlers (said to be 3 and 5 years old), I don’t know if they will have this trauma or memory of this incident. It’s also very hard to imagine that they once have a parent who love and care of them, and now… suddenly gone.

I can’t imagine if I were in their shoes. No more parent sending them to school at their first day. No more mother-daughter’s talk. No parent to attend graduation’s day, wedding day, and so on.

I told myself to start living for the present, not just catching the future and end up regret. We can plan but we seriously have no idea and can’t predict what may happen tomorrow. Things like tsunami, earthquake, robbery, they don’t tell you when they are going to come.

Cherish your life.

Wake Up Call

We received a last-minute info to attend a talk. We thought it was a marketing related talk, so we clear our schedule for today to attend it.

6.20 am -> Despite that the sky is still dark, made me kinda reluctant to get up and consider using best eye cream for dark circles already, I woke up to do my usual morning routine. Boil water, take a shower, cook oatmeal for myself.

One hour later, which is 7.2 0am, we departed from house. Traffic jam has started to get on us. It’s been a while since we last drive in such early hour and trapped in the jam. Felt that it’s so wasting time.

One hour plus later, which is around 8.40 am, we arrived destination. Managed to grab a cup of teh tarik and nasi lemak at a coffee shop.

Spent 30 minutes for breakfast, and went upstair to the hall cause it’s said that the talk starts from 9 – 12. But, attendees still out there having the complimentary breakfast. Then it hits us that the mentioned 9 am is coffee/breakfast time. -__-” We’re there too early, heh.

The talk itself starts at around 10 am. To our surprise, it’s about a location-based advertising app. A start-up from neighborhood country a.k.a kiasu-land. :D It’s a great app, but not really useful for us since we don’t have an offline shop/product or location based stuff.

The talk is around 15 – 20 minutes only, with another 20 minutes or so of Q&A session. So basically 11am finishes already. -__-”

Consider where I come from (home office and appreciate time), I feel mad that my time is wasted like that; wake up so early, go through long hour of driving, traffic jam, only to listen to something that I can actually read at TechCrunch. Yea, the start-up was featured there. I can actually use that hours to sleep longer and gain more energy & get my work done.

Some more it’s not something that we need, title and description of the talk is kinda misleading with nothing mentioning about app.

But… at the end of the day it triggers our mind to think about our current and upcoming business. Lots to learn and dig about target audience, etc. Something that we know but easily forgotten. Besides, I’ve never been to the area which is like the Beverly Hills of KL.

Consider this talk as a wake up call. Glad that this mind is still working and not sitting in the comfort zone waiting to be fed. So yea, the talk that seems to be wasting time isn’t so wasting after all. :P

When You’re Discouraged

Let’s pray :

Father, I am so discouraged. Life is just not turning out like I thought it would. I have had so many disappointments and it seems like I face one valley after another.

I need You and the hope that only You can give. Help me to trust You will all of my heart – not just part of it. Teach me how to walk by faith and not by sight. Today, I come to You with a “yes” in my heart for whatever You have planned for my life.

In Jesus’ name,
Amen.

Road Trip With Parent In Law

Ah, we are back to the life of just the two of us and work. Parent-in-law and sister-in-law were back to their home already, taking today early morning flight.

Yesterday we took a day off, replacing it with Sunday, by taking my in-law for a road trip to the historical town Melaka and the nearest beach Port Dickson. How time flies, it’s like yesterday only when parent took us for road trip and it’s the other way round now. I’m all grown up eh? *pat shoulder*

We departed at 10.30 am, took 2 hours to reach Melaka. Highlight of the trip is to have the famous chicken rice ball, shop at Jonker Street for antique table lamp though it’s less happening unlike weekend, no crowded stalls like on weekend), and visit the historical buildings esp. the red Stadthuys.

We spent 2 hours only in Melaka and off we went to Port Dickson. All of us never been to Port Dickson, we just relied on the GPS for direction. :P I only heard that the beach is dirty, brownish water unlike Perhentian Island. It took us about 90 minutes to reach there.

I’m loving the scenery on the way to PD. As for the beach, it’s not as dirty as what I have in my mind. It’s 100% better than Pantai Cermin the beach that we have back in my hometown Medan, in terms of cleanliness, water’s color, resorts, etc.

We were just there for sightseeing. Reached home around 6pm something or 7pm. Went to 2 places in 1 day by car, what an achievement for us. :P
