New Month, New Chapter

Prayer answered. We found a place that will be our nest for the next one year. :) Exciting, cause we finally get to live on our own though it’s small and rental only. Basically, it means a lot to me and I’m taking it as another growing step.

Of course I have so many ideas in my head, wishing that I can place Decorative floor mirror at the living room or Vanity mirror at the master bedroom, get this and that. But, it’s all just wishes. Not gonna shop that much, keeping things simple and basic as in focusing on need instead of want.

We thought of moving in this weekend, but pushing it to next week instead. Luckily it’s a long weekend and we have cleared our work list, so went to clean up the place this afternoon – super duper tired and sleepy now. Next is to paint, due to the dirty wall.

Oh another good news, Mum is going to visit us in 3 weeks time. Yay! :)

An Impromptu History Class

I was surfing IMDB last night, in search of new/upcoming movie for blogging material on another blog actually. :P Then I came across this movie The Devil’s Double. The golden poster attracted me immediately. I read the plot but didn’t get what it’s all about & watch the trailer on Youtube, still didn’t get it. Duh. Guess my mind was working pretty slow at late night.

I took time to digest the two similar person in the movie and the title “double”, it clicked! Then only I understood that it’s about the late dictator’s son from Iraq – Uday Hussein and his body double (Latif Yahia). What more? It’s a true story! Wow, interesting fact that the ignorance me never know about.

All I remember from the 2003 invasion of Iraq was that, the regime of the long time dictator Saddam Hussein was finally ended. Something pretty similar to my home-country Indonesia back in 1998, except ours wasn’t a war and Saddam was much cruel. Other than that, I didn’t really dig the Iraq’s story. Guess I was too caught up in my final year’s exam -> about to graduate from high school that time, and ignored the world. -__-”

Since my interest was sparked, I googled and wiki-ed to learn more about body double this term, who Latif Yahia & how his story was, and most importantly I learn the cruelty of the late Uday Hussein. How he tortured the country’s sportsmen who lost in the game, how he ended someone’s life like killing an ant, etc.

One article leaded to another article. I was like having an impromptu history class, but not the boring one, and share the findings with hubby. All thanks to the powerful wonderful internet, I get to search news back in 2003, just a click away. So great! Imagine if it’s way back then I might need to go to national library and dig their archive.

I used to heard about how sadism their regime was, but never really dug into it. So this is really an eye opener. Besides, I’m always a blog person means my daily read is mostly blogs, where the language is more casual, seldom a news site. Reading articles from news site means formal English and lots of new vocabulary that I didn’t understand, but lucky I got English to Indonesian dictionary program to help me out. :P

Self note: need to start checking out international news site more often to broaden the vocab.

Another interesting finding came from the term body double or political decoy {wiki here} :

The U.S. Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) had planned to bring down Indonesia’s first president Sukarno by portraying him in a pornographic film in the late 1950s.

The agency put together a pornographic film starring a Sukarno look-alike in bed with a blonde playing a Soviet agent. The humiliation caused by circulating the film was supposed to drive Sukarno from office but the plan was unsuccessful.

I ended up read all those articles for hours. :P If you’re tired of Royal wedding’s hoo hah, then take a time machine back to year 2003.

Movie will be out around July (for USA), can’t wait!

Quirky Way to Cook Spaghetti

It all started on few weeks ago when we were about to cook spaghetti for lunch. It’s the best meal to go for on lazy day while sitting at Outdoor lounge chair overlooking the swimming pool *daydream* we only have football field in front of the house.

Then Hubby said that he found something interesting. I secretly hoped that it’s Lounge chair – still daydreaming. Apparently he means interesting & different way of cooking spaghetti from an online site. Well, what are we waiting for? Let’s try it! :D

cooking-spaghetti-01

The idea here is to stick the uncooked spaghetti into the sausage and boil them together. Both of us spend quite some time in the kitchen inserting the spaghetti one by one. It’s fun tho.

Check out how it turns out after this jump ;) (more…)

Assemble His First Gundam

There is a quote saying:

In every real man a child is hidden that wants to play. ~ Friedrich Nietzsche

So true! Though the term ‘play’ can have different meaning for each people. It could be going for the extreme Skydiving in Melbourne from 14,000ft or the girlie type play with Barbie doll (my dream!). It’s up to us!

Anyway, few weeks ago hubby just got himself a simple remote control car {read here} and it’s been his entertainment during break time.

Seeing the red remote car so lonely, I got itself a friend, I mean Gundam as a belated birthday present. Bought it online from gundam.my, there is loads of choices there. Being a noob in Gundam, I just picked based on how attractive the color, number of weapons it comes with (not in the pictures below), how complicate it is (the complicate the better :P ).

Gundam-kit
Gundam Exia (MG) – Celestial Being Mobile Suit GN-001 (30 Anniversary)

Luckily the package arrived on Saturday morning instead of weekday, perfect time for hubby to assemble his first Gundam kit. Spend 4 hours of his afternoon to get the Gundam done. If it’s me, it would be 1 to 2 day I guess, although there is guide-book. Suddenly he’s like a 6 years old flooded with excitement with his toy. :P

Once done, we took several pics of the Gundam in various pose from dance to doing kungfu. :P Next is to have the Gundam pose in various sport like Skydiving maybe. :P

Another realign – keep it simple

It’s been one year since the last redesign. I felt the urge to freshen up the look and keep thing simple, therefore realign instead of redesign. :D

  • Logo: still using the same shape, except it’s no longer white-teal color filling but blackboard texture and reduce the amount of floral design.
  • Menu Navigation: From top, I moved it to left sidebar. Oh, the whole left sidebar is static, only content will move as you scroll down.
  • Footer: a glimpse of about me, my personal projects/start-up with awesome partners and categories.

Let’s take a time machine back to see how wiehanne.com looked like back in 2008, that’s when I started to play around with my blog design. :D

blog-design-since-2008-to-1011

It was mostly dominated by pink pink pink. In 2009 I even went for a darker pink, but changed to softer pink + more white in 2010.

Portfolio page is updated as well.

P.S. It marks my 5 years of blogging with this domain name, yay!
