Not exactly a movie but rather a Taiwan idol drama – In Time with You / Wo Ke Neng Bu Hui Ai Ni, which I just finished watching it recently. Starring Ariel Lin, hitting 30 and in the field of work shoes for women, this drama has a more real life storyline, not the cartoonish or fairytale type where rich good-looking guy falls in love with a poor kind-hearted girl.

The shooting took place in Singapore as well and it showcased IKEA items here and there in the scene, mainly in Cheng You Qing’s room (Ariel Lin’s character). Of all IKEA items, what caught my eyes the most is her closet! Think it’s a hack of the GORM shelving unit turns into closet. I’m looking for a closet idea, that’s why this stuck in my mind.

It’s all started when hubby wanted to fix the scratched rim over the weekend. When he accidentally scratched the rim while doing reversed parking, he was heartache all day long, while I gave it-is-not-a-big-deal-no-one-will-notice-the-rim-anyway kind of reaction. If it’s the car’s body, I’ll pay attention, but not when it comes to rim.

So he bought the spray can and all materials needed, along with a white color spray intended for a wall shelf. The project is quite successful.

Then I asked if we can spray the canned in white cause some already rusty, but I don’t want to throw away yet. #dibuangsayang He tried and the old canned looks like new again in white now. Yay!

Got this from an email newsletter.

What circumstances in your life don’t match up to your dreams?
Just because things don’t look exactly like you wanted doesn’t mean God is not at work. God often chooses a more challenging route to His great destination to build our character and show His glory. Think about it: If you were able to accomplish everything on your own, would you really depend on Him? But no matter what, His promise still stands: “’For I know the plans I have for you,’ declares the LORD, ‘plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future’” (Jeremiah 29:11).
God is not finished with you yet. Keep trusting Him.

So this week, let us pray that:
- We would give our plan over to God
- We would walk in His perfect plan—and have peace doing so
- Global Media Outreach would hear God’s plan for us to reach the world

Anyway, Mum is back to Medan already. So we’re going to celebrate Mid-Autumn Festival by just the two of us. I can’t wait to go back hometown, two more months to go, argh…

That is when a woman at my age asked,”What? You’re Indonesian? You can speak Mandarin? Indonesia also got Chinese ppl meh? Cos you know, I thought mostly are.. Malays, and.. work as maid. I have an Indonesian maid at home. Don’t tell me you’re one. Haha..”

She gave me the big eyes which is like saying I-can’t-believe-this. While I gave a big -_____________-” , raising my eyebrow and sigh.

Ok, so what’s my issue here?

First, having people wondered how can I (as a Chinese Indonesian) speak Mandarin is a normal thing already. Many asked before and I tend to think they’re stuck at 90s era, outdated to the max. We all pick up language, no matter what race & nationality we are, kay?

Second, the question “Indonesia also got Chinese people?” is like asking “Malaysia also got Chinese people?”, Duh.

Third, I feel quite upset on this part, when she related Indonesian with maid/domestic helper. Yea right, there are many Indonesian coming here (Malaysia) to work as domestic helpers but doesn’t make all Indonesian = maid. My home-country ain’t maid’s producer, we have many talents back home.

This is like touching an elephant’s trunk and then say that elephant is so thin and long like a snake. The same thing like asking Sarawakian,”I thought you all live in tree house.” Big DUH!

Fourth, “Don’t tell me you’re one? haha”. Yea right, so funny. So I was a poor girl worked as a maid, found my prince and married. Cinderella can have a better life now.

Moral of the story, when you want to strike a conversation with someone you just know but don’t have better things to say, just shut up. And, have an open-mind that the world isn’t flat.
