Take a look into our household and you’ll see items like canned and jars being reused as pens container, sugar/salt container, and many more. They’re from Campbell’s mushroom soup, Nutella jar, etc.
No need to buy new containers whatsoever. Gotta live frugally.
Here’s my attempt to do a HOW-TO post from our previous-weekend’s project. I’ve been whining non-stop to hubby about covering the kitchen’s small window, cause outsiders can see through inside the house. Finally he made the move to settle that problem.
We bought 2 meter plain fabric (skin color) from Kamdar store, which is only RM4.80/meter. The fabric is quite thin, so after cut into two equal piece, we folded each piece in half and hem the sides (we don’t have sewing machine, hence bring it to the nearest tailor service).
Next, fold the fabric again like the above picture cause we’re going to punch 5 holes for eyelets.
Next, setting the eyelets (bought from Daiso), see the above picture from top L to R cause I have no idea how to describe the process. Then put in the metal ring binders (8 pieces at RM8)
Next problem, how are we going to put up the curtain since there is no curtain rail there? Find out the end result after this jump. (more…)
Because I just got myself a home slipper with dotted pink pattern. Where else if not from the all-time-favorite-shop Daiso, where everything is RM5. Happy feet, happy me. While the man was about to get something like steiner binoculars but decided not to first.
Another thing that brings happiness, I’m planning for the long-awaited-family-trip on next month. Yeap, Dad agreed to join us, usually he’s the type who says,”you guys go enjoy, I can’t leave the business.” But not this time, guess he really misses us (the kids).
Happy weekend, peeps~! I have a small home improvement project to be done this weekend with hubby, excited.
As a kid, I was wishing for a huge house as in bungalow kind of house with garden and additional metal building maybe, cause I want this that so many things so I thought huge space will be great to accommodate that many things. Heh. But as time passes and as I see more things in life, I realize that huge house ain’t what I really want or rather need.
You see, huge house usually equal to large space, which just leads us to decor dump more stuffs in the house to fill up the empty space. It will end up become messy. When it comes to cleaning, it’s another headache.
Now when you have small space, it means limitation and triggers our creativity to work things out. Maybe with the help of IKEA for the easy way out. Or more DIY. Well in my case now, small space helps me to eliminate unnecessary things and keep things simple + basic = compact.
So yea, the quote saying “Less is More” is so true.
Speaking of small space and creativity, here are videos of people that taking small space to a whole new extend. One is 250++ sqft only, another one is 340++ sqft only.
Another thing that I love, Apartment Therapy has this annual contest for smallest coolest home. Seeing all the entries is just so inspiring and make me go Wow-ing & can’t believe how they can come up with such a solution.
… is by being an arrogant seller and sarcastic to your prospective buyer.
Ok, story telling time, it happened on last Monday when we went to nearby night market – open on Monday only. We bought our dinner and walked around to see what else we need/can buy. There were baby gifts, clothes, accessories, and many more.
Then we saw an iron-board, we’ve been searching for a decent one for ages. So hubby opened the iron-board to try how stable the board was and asked:
Hubby: Boss, how much is this iron-board?
BOSS : RM24++ *he just opened the stall, still organizing his items*
Hubby: Whoa, so expensive ah (yes, we’ve looked for a few in the market, this one a lot smaller, should be around RM1x only)
BOSS : Hah? Expensive ah? You do one yourself la, cheaper lo… *in arrogant voice, not humour ok*
Fine, I walked away and hubby was behind me.
Boss : Eh not cheaper, free somemore (no need money/bu yong qian de) *again, in arrogant voice, not humour ok*
Above conversation is in Mandarin.
Whoa, speechless with the Chinese uncle.
First, Night market is a place to bargain, so when prospective buyer says “so expensive“, seller usually will say “aiya no la, this is from where where good quality bla3.. “ to justify the price he gave, of course bluff one, who doesn’t want to earn more profit. Then he’ll say “how much you want? I can give you this this (cheaper) price la“.
The uncle can just control his emotion and said “it is like that one la”, end of story, if he wasn’t in the mood. Or explain why *refer to above paragraph for sample* Not by stabbing his prospective buyer with spicy childish words, in which we made a mental note to avoid buying from him in the future.
And to make it worse, he told us to do it ourselves. Is he in business or what?
Second, we walked away already and yet he was like not enough, still continued saying “Eh not cheaper, free somemore (no need money/bu yong qian de)”. At that time I felt the uncle was so childish. Yea DIY no need money one, cause I can just cut my hand to use as the material. Very funny, ha..ha..ha.. Am just being sarcastic to his words you know.
Guess the uncle was having a bad day or PMS-ing. He should have just stay at home and be grumpy himself. Sigh.
So, learn the lesson, peeps! When potential buyer says it’s expensive or offer ridiculous low price, tell them why (as in educate). Don’t use your silly emotion in business, save it for your emo day later when you’re at home yourself. Otherwise, you’re at risk of losing potential buyer.
