Aside from wedding sites, I am now adding home + office decor sites into my daily dose of inspiration, a must-read before I start the day like how acne treatment creams is a must use for me.Talk about early research of decor planning for our future dream home. I especially love the before-after section from designspongeonline and house tour from apartmenttherapy.
Now, today’s finding is related to bedroom. Something that isn’t as essential as a bed, but it still plays quite a part to enhance our sleeping experience. Surely you can guess it from the image below.
Yeap, it’s the custom headboard; can be painting, damask pattern, vintage, etc. Oh so lovely! I’m putting this into my wishlist. It’s gonna be our future DIY project where we implement our artwork on it. *continue dreaming*
We have this quote in Hokkien dialect: Ai Sui Mai Mia. Basically means one chooses beauty and ignores life. Example, how ladies often wear high heel of 4″ and above, despite knowing that it hurts their feet. All for the sake of beauty.
While I don’t commit the high-heel sins or buy apidexin to lose weight (Thank God for my mini-size figure), I do commit contact-lens sins. I’ve been wearing glasses since primary 3, and moved on to wearing contact-lens since senior high school, can’t really remember. I did switch back to glasses during some point of my college life, but found lens more convenient.
So far so good, I only had one bad experience where the lens broke and went missing inside my eye. I found it at the end of the day, but it didn’t hold me from wearing lens.
Then came the era of black-iris-lens, from Freshkon, which make your iris looks larger. Whoa, finally I found my life saviour! Cause my iris is quite small. Been using that kind of lens since 2 years ago (maybe, I forgot) and never looked back to normal lens.
I sticked to Freshkon until I moved here at end of last year. Changed a few brands, but still have big-iris effect. But with latest changes, I found something weird with my left eye. Don’t know how to describe it, but it’s something that can’t be solved by using eye-drop.
And, the video below just adds up the scary feeling in me. Eh, it’s eyes – my window to the world – that I’m talking about, I surely won’t trade it with beauty. Guess it’s time to switch back to normal contact-lens or even use glasses.
Speaking of glasses, I had bad experience with optical here. First, when I bought my latest contact lens last month, I requested to have an eye-check cause I haven’t checked it since 2-3 years ago. So I wanted to confirm if there is slightly increase/decrease or not. But.. the lady-boss gently refused to do so and asked me to pass my glasses for her to check the eye-minus. -__-”
What’s the point? It’s clear that she assumed I’ve been wearing glasses for years and didn’t know my own eye minus. Hello? I purposely wore glasses to do eye-check. Ask before you assume, please. Customer service part fails completely.
Second, few days ago I decided to shop for new glasses. Been wanting to do it months ago, but just not in the mood. Again, I purposely wore glasses so I could have an eye check. *insist mode on* We went to an optical shop, recommended by a few friends, located nearby where we bought the watches.
The owner rejected my request as well, saying : “Oh no need, is your vision still clear with current glasses? If yes, no need to do eye-check. Besides, the minus will stop increasing once you reach certain age.” Another fail kind of customer service. I never saw optical shop which refuses to do eye check for the customer-to-be.
Ok, the owner probably didn’t want to waste his time doing eye check for me, and in the end I didn’t buy any glasses from him. But.. he can ask me to choose the glasses that I like and then proceed with eye-check. Is that too much to ask for? Well, after we insisted only he said : Ok, choose your glasses and we’ll do eye check later. Anyway, I didn’t find any that I like, all old school glasses, just like the old-school uncle (read: owner). Bleh.
Seeing the way they do business, I wonder how this small town can grow and move forward. Sigh.
Flood has always be the enemy to Sibu since.. don’t know when, should let Sibuan to answer it. The flood can be very very bad sometimes, especially because the town is surrounded by Rejang river. Heavy rain + bad drainage system + river overload = bad flood. The number of flood’s review is more than lipozene reviews that you can find online.
But on normal day where the sun shine all day, the road in front our house is actually still in a good condition. Out of a sudden (this morning) some authority decided to raise the road’s height. Plain stupid idea, just compare the before and after picture. *speechless*
KL the big city used to bring stress to me. But it’s weird that I actually enjoy it during my five days trip to KL (include Puchong & Cyberjaya) last week. I love how people walk and move faster there, how there is so many choice and varieties (be it driveway alarm or foods), how there is always new things coming out, so on. It’s all about vibrant, active, young, enthusiasm, basically I feel more lively there. Such an opposite side of where we live now.
Anyway, here is an Indonesia song that has been playing in my mind for these 2 days – Jangan Menyerah (Don’t Give Up) by D’Masiv. Meaningful lyrics and nice rhythm. It reminds me to be strong and keep going even when life throws me lemon. No regret for going back Sibu to settle down as the past 8 months has brought lotsa life lessons to us. But change will take place as we need to grow.
It’s my first time attending the Borneo Cultural Festival Sibu, which is held once a year for one week or more. My boy has been talking about it for years ago but I never had the chance to fly to Sibu during mid year.
This year I’m here in this town, must attend it else next year(s) might not have the chance already. But.. my boy has been extremely busy since the opening of the festival. When he has free time, the weather is playing with us (read: raining), and we have to postpone until last Monday. Pfiuh.
Since the name contains the word cultural, I was expecting some culture related stuffs. Yes, there is but not that much compare to the F&B booths. It’s more to a combination of fun fair + food fair + trade fair to me. Selling breads, drinks, weight loss pills, travel agent, English tuition, Maggi, Milo, etc.
Probably we went at the wrong time, hence less cultural performance. Aside from not cultural enough, the festival is quite an interesting one. If only we can have it to replace the current small night market. Open during weekend will do.
