LRT to Sunway Pyramid

Sunway Pyramid (Malaysia) is a huge shopping complex, a tourist destination, and it has Sunway Lagoon and hotels at the other side. Such a happening place, we should be able to reach there by train; be it LRT, KTM, Monorail, you name it.

I mean, it is so far from KL city and other places, having a train like LRT or monorail will be better and faster than bus. Waiting for bus is so terrible horrible vegetable. The bus can come in a few minutes time or even after 1 hour waiting. kns.

Say until chui ta also the LRT won’t stop in front of Sunway Pyramid. The nearest LRT station is Kelana Jaya (the last station) and KTM Subang. From Kelana Jaya, we gotta take the RapidKL T623 to Sunway Pyramid. It is just RM1 for one day use.

Last year, there was news that the government planned to expand the line. But I think the budgeting and planning didn’t go well, therefore it was canceled.

I’m still waiting for the day when Malaysia government will expand LRT line to Sunway and Puchong.

Temptation from the cheap flights

Each time I received a newsletter from Airasia, I will go “Wah so cheap, I want it”.

See, how can someone resist such a temptation. Cuti – cuti Malaysia on the mid of the year, from KL to Langkawi at RM5, to Sibu at RM25.

Airasia01

Or this one, going Vietnam is a trend nowadays.

Airasia04

Or China – with Hongkong, Shenzhen, the shopping paradise.

Airasia02

Or the local one, from Jakarta to Bali, Pulau Dewata

Airasia03

But then, count and count the tax and the baggage fee, the flight doesn’t really cheap lo. But.. at least cheaper than normal days when no promotion is going on.

Oh well, I wish I am printing money.

Day 5: Shopping time

10 Feb 2008, 4th day of Chinese New Year / Che Si

It was our last day in KL. We would fly back to Medan on the morning flight, the next day. So, we had to use the time wisely. At first, we thought of taking the ‘Hop On Hop Off’ bus, RM38/person for 24 hours, to see interesting places in KL. Some more the 16 years old girl was so eager to pay a visit on Petronas Twin Tower. Wherever we went and saw the twin tower, she would say,”ni kan, liang jie mei ar.”

Due to some reason, we decided to spend the day for shopping. She told her parents that she could walk to KLCC by looking at the map that she had. -__-” Sounded so desperate and brave. I told her that she could take monorail to KL Sentral, LRT KL Sentral – KLCC. I asked for the taxi price at Jalan Alor, and it was RM15 to go KLCC. Again, as expected the mum didn’t let her go, either by walking or taxi or LRT. Whatever.

BukitBintang (2)

This time, Sungei Wang was so alive, most of the shops already opened. Same thing with TimeSquare that was within walking distance. Even though it was Rat year, the saying-Hi-cat furniture was still around. One day wasn’t enough to shop at this 2 shopping complex.

BukitBintang (5)

At 7pm, Bukit Bintang already so crowded. It was the Chinese New Year Open House by the Prime Minister, Pak Lah. There were a few projectors at the road side. The celebration itself started at 8.30pm and scheduled to be ended at 10.30pm. After dinner at Jalan Alor, the three of us (mum, bro and I) joined in the crowd.

BukitBintang (1)

I was just exciting to see the Chinese Opera show and the other shows. Seeing Pak Lah wasn’t a big thing. He had paid a visit to Limkokwing before. What surprised me was, how generous the government was to do a Chinese New Year Open House. It sounded that there wasn’t racism in Malaysia. Later on the boyfriend even told me that Pak Lah will come to Sibu, for somewhat St. Elizabeth school re-opening. Whoa. But hor, we all know that nothing comes good without purpose and reason. What else, because election is coming soon lo. Aiyoyo.. Politician memang politician.

BukitBintang (3)

But the PM definitely scored and gave good impression to the tourists by doing Chinese New Year Open House. It was a good place that he picked, Bukit Bintang, the tourists heaven, instead of some Dataran or Lapangan. Part of his speech that I heard was,”20 years of living in KL, this is my first time seeing so many people gathered at Bukit Bintang.”

BukitBintang (4)

The minus thing was, we hardly saw the shows. The stage was in front of BB plaza, and the politicians were sitting facing the stage. It was done in a horizontal way instead of vertical. After all, we only saw through the blurry projectors. What was the point of doing the celebration if it was only the governments people that could see the shows clearly? Chew.I was so tired, I slept before it ended.5 days seems to be not enough. So many places not yet go: KLCC, KL tower, Eye on Malaysia and shopping complex – Mid Valley, Pavillion, 1 Utama, The Curve, Pyramid also not yet finished.

Day 4: Genting Highland

9 Feb 2008, 3rd day of Chinese New Year / Che Sa

It was a relieved to know that the tickets have already booked. Off we went to KL Sentral by monorail. After bought some snacks and mineral water at 7-11, KL Sentral, we went to the bus stop downstairs. It wasn’t hard to find ‘Go Genting’ bus, because it was in red color and they have a counter too.

Genting (3)

The bus departed at 11am. In less than 1 hour, we already reached the skyway station to take cable car. I was surprised to see that it was the old cable car with only a few seats and so many people standing inside. Later I knew that it was the old Awana cable car. I wondered why the driver didn’t drop us to Genting skyway station.

Genting (2)

Instead of passing through the jungle, this cable car passed through highway to Genting Highland. Obviously the scenery was less beautiful. In about 15 minutes, we reached Awana hotel area and followed the sign to First World indoor theme park.

Genting (4)

We spend the day at the arcade area and indoor theme park. The only thing that I played was going to the Snow World for 40 minutes with my bro and the daughter of mum’s friend. No camera was allowed. But they provided the take-picture service. Besides that, I had a sightseeing at StarWorld (Casino de Genting). I am 22 and never been to casino, wtf. As expected, the security guard stopped me and asked for my IC. -___-”

Genting (5)

The crowd at First World Indoor theme park and arcade area was so WOW. Mum met an old friend of my auntie. I didn’t get to meet her though. The day passed by so fast, 9pm was coming soon. It was getting colder too. Luckily the bus depart on time or else we would be freezing waiting at the bus station too long.

Genting (1)

It only needed 1 hour to reach KL Sentral. If only going to Brastagi from Medan is also so smooth like this. From KL Sentral we took Monorail back. What a night.

Day 3: Sunway Lagoon – Sunway Pyramid

8 Feb 2008, 2nd day of Chinese New Year / Che Ji

We thought of going to Genting Highland. But thinking that it was the peak season and the bus ticket might be sold out, we decided to go Sunway Lagoon and bought the bus ticket to Genting for the next day.

Forget about taxi. There is 2 cheaper ways to go Sunway Pyramid / Lagoon from Bukit Bintang. First, Monorail from Bukit Bintang – KL Sentral (RM2.10) & bus U76 from KL Sentral – Sunway Pyramid (RM2). Second, Monorail from Bukit Bintang – KL Sentral (RM2.10), LRT from KL Sentral – Kelana Jaya (RM2.10), & bus T623 from Kelana Jaya – Sunway Pyramid (RM1, re-usable for one day).

Before we took LRT, I went to Genting counter and bought tickets for tomorrow. Apparently the ticket from KL Sentral – Skyway – Genting was fully booked until 11am. While the one from Genting – KL sentral also fully booked, left only 9pm, without taking cable car but the bus directly go from First World Hotel to KL Sentral. Ckckck. It is best to buy ticket few days before the departure day. Anyway, bus fare from KL Sentral – Skyway – Genting (bus + cable car) = RM8.30/person. While bus fare from Genting – KL Sentral = RM4/person.

Finished with that, we took the 2nd way to go to Sunway. Instead of stopping in front of Sunway Pyramid, the bus stopped in front of the new Pyramid 2. I was stupid enough to walk all the way to Pyramid because the entrance to Sunway Lagoon is at Pyramid 2, somewhere near J.Co dough nut ! -__-” So outdated I am.

The ticket counters were so crowded and the queue were so long. Various races were there, from Chinese to Malay to Indian to Angmoh. Wah, best time to cuci mata. Entrance ticket for adult is RM45. Cheaper price for senior citizens and kids. They have changed the paper wristband to watch wristband. We have to pay RM10 as a deposit. If we lost the wristband, RM50 will be charged. Whew~!

I had a voucher of 20% discount for max 6 people from Agora Hotel. I thought I could use it. But since I was queuing at the express lane (cash only and amusement park + water park only), the voucher wasn’t valid, unless I wanna re-queue at the other counter. One more mistake, I intended to buy 2 senior citizens tickets but I didn’t bring their IC, they were standing far away from the counter. Dammit!

When they said no outside food and drink are allowed, they really mean it. The staffs would check everyone’s bag (esp. the big size one) at the entrance. My mum’s lovely kua-ci almost be the victim but we quickly put it in my bro’s pocket. :P We noticed that they saw and chose people or even races one. Sometimes they just touched the bag and let you in, while sometimes they checked every single pockets of the bag.

The food and drink stall in Sunway Lagoon must be earning like siao. Mineral water = RM3 !!! Double or even triple from the normal price. That’s not included tax yet. A cold fish burger almost RM10!!! Wtf?

SunwayLagoon (1)

It was 3 years ago when I last went to Sunway Lagoon with the housemates and the boyfriend. I remembered how eager I was in taking almost every ride. But this time, when I saw those rides, I lost my bravery. Partly because there was no friends to take the ride together. Or maybe as my age was increased, I became scare of the rides’ security. This mind was playing with me. Duh..

SunwayLagoon (2)

On the other side, the 16 years old girl (the daughter of mum’s friend) was so eager to take every ride. I felt her excitement, like a bird that just flew away from the golden cage to see the world. But her mum was over protective, didn’t let her tried unless she has a companion, which made me wondered, there were so many people that would take the ride together with her, it just that they were stranger, ain’t that companion too?

SunwayLagoon (3)

Anyway, I did fulfill my dream to walk through the bridge, though I only walked until 1/8 of the total length or maybe less than that. :P But still that was an achievement for me who was quite a height phobia. If only the boyfriend was walking by my side, I’ll sure finish it. Next time, you hear it, dear? :P

SunwayLagoon (4)

The map of Sunway Lagoon was still the old map. On the map, Sunway Pyramid 2 is still in progress and the new entrance is still a blank area. -__-” Fast fast finish the old stock and print the new one lo.

SunwayLagoon (5)

We took a few rides at the amusement park and proceed to water park. The pool was packed with people and so was the surfing area. It was not fun if you go to Sunway Lagoon without getting wet, no? I got myself wet from top to bottom through the ride at the amusement park. I missed the screaming and thrilling session. It was short but great, rather than being swung until 360′ for a few round.

SunwayPyramid (2)

At 6pm, we cao and planned to had our dinner at Ming Tien. But as expected, it was closed. -___-” Off we went to KFC inside Pyramid, again. Sien. With the expansion of Pyramid 2, it wasn’t enough to explore the mall within 1 hour plus time. The uncle was so tired already, we went back at 9sth. Waited the bus for about 30minutes. Ai si.. Then proceed to LRT and monorail, like how we came.

SunwayPyramid (1)

Lesson of the day: It is not wise to bring senior citizen along to Sunway Lagoon. They have to wait while the youngster play, quite ma fan I think. Some more almost all of the rides are thrilling one, unless they wanna play in the water pool. It’s best to go there with own friends and have fun by taking the ride together. After all, there are lockers to put the bag.
