Yes, we (hubby and I) sort of made that deal recently. Cause we had enough of giving I-have-no-time excuse and keep on delaying. So we thought setting a deadline for ourselves will eventually push us to do things.
Last year we told ourselves that we’ll have a few new start-ups this year, fulfilling our many more passion in life. Okay, read the sentence back, I said “A Few”, not just “One”. Oh so ambitious eh?
I even wrote that down in my new year list early this year. But instead of “A Few”, I wrote “At least another”. Lowering my expectation and give myself rooms to not feel bad if I don’t have “A Few”.
Well, look at us now. It’s August, half of the year is gone and we only have less than 5 months for 2011. Yet we don’t have any new start-up yet. All of them is forever in progress. Not good.
I tried to comfort myself, at least I did restructuring both sites that we have now and the business plan is clearer for the future. But it doesn’t cover the fact that we fail to launch new stuff.
So, this is the month of making things happen. Either now or keep on delaying.

My progress so far, creating coming soon page. I made two kinds, but decide to stick with the soft approach instead of the bold one. This is something that I’ve been wanting to do since 2 years ago, but the I-am-not-good-enough mentality killed it.
This post itself is to remind me that I have decided to take my 1st step. Keep this kind of momentum and bring it til the finish line.
Guess it’s obvious enough, less blog post means yours truly is busy with work and projects, or in other word, I’m lazy to squeeze in time to blog. But have time to check out samsung digital cameras and the kind.
All due to my coming family trip on next week, minus hubby. It’s only 4 days then Mum will be here for another few days. But it’s enough to make me become a busy bee. Seriously, it’s just me, who want to make sure that all work is done at certain stage before I take leave.
Whoever says,”Whoa, you so lucky can have holiday whenever you want.” Yeah, true, partly. I can take as many leave as I want, but I need to take care of my clients too. When I’m back, pile of work is waiting for me, somewhat no different with 9 to 5 job.
So, what’s the point of this post? Not to complain but be graceful that I get to have a family trip on my birthday’s week, so coincident. I have few days time to put off my wifey’s hat and be Daddy’s little girl again.
Be glad that I have awesome clients and challenging projects on hand to keep me busy. A supportive superman husband. Many many more.
It might be a working weekend for me, but still.. TGIF!
It’s not seldom we have friends whom give us the pity look or ask whether we feel boring or not, since work takes so much part of our life (from day time to night time) it looks like we don’t have life and need to get a life. *complicated sentence*
I understand where they come from and appreciate their attention. Well, tell you what,
1) I’m gonna say aloud that IT (re: work) IS MY LIFE! and
2) I don’t feel like it’s work, as I love and enjoy doing it from research to design to replying emails to online marketing and many more.
Just like the following quotes:
I never worked a day in my life. It’s not work when you love what you’re doing. ~David Shakarian
My father always told me, ”Find a job you love and you’ll never have to work a day in your life. ~Jim Fox
There goes the time when I work like a robot or sit in the office waiting eagerly for 5pm to come so I can off from work and go back home, shut myself from work stuffs. Or even work just for the sake of having a job and get the salary every month.
I don’t mind spending more time with the so-called-work. Just like how I don’t mind spending more time with my love one. Or for example, enrolling in rv travel emergency program won’t feel like a burden if you really wanna do it.
And all those ain’t because I work from home. But because I’ve found something that I love and enjoy doing. Really, it is not just a work. Guess it is passion. Web + design, my geek side gets to meet my creative side.
Have you found yours? If you haven’t, don’t wait any longer! Life is too short to be doing things that you dislike.
Like it or not, change is the only constant. So we’ve been doing some changes in terms of work life.
Recently we had monthly spring cleaning and we changed the placement (a bit) of our work-station. I get to use my LCD again, which means wider screen, lovely! The laptop is placed on the white LACK table from IKEA, we hacked it so it becomes double-decker.
Now, lack of Energy bookshelf speakers and a 3-in-1 printer.

Zooming in to the screen, you’ll get to see the brand new design for Zhng Design Studio. Yeap. we finally work on updating our own site and re-brand, after many times of giving ourselves a lame excuse that we’re too busy with clients’ work and have no time to do ours.

It’s a work-in-progress, as the geeky WordPress Guru is working his magic on the coding now. I have updated Zhng Design’s facebook page and Twitter though. Follow us on Zhng’s Twitter if you want to keep updated with the progress and launching date.
Just finished a website design & development project today.
Should be happy, feel accomplished and all but when client said that she will miss seeing my email first thing in the morning, the sentimental feeling hits me. I secretly say, yeah me too. Seriously.
This feeling is like a teacher having to be apart with her student whom just graduated. *sorry if my analogy is too lame
* She knows she will get to teach new students, but eventually the students will graduate and the circle repeats. Or like a medical student has to bid farewell to her old White lab coat that has been with her for quite some time. Eventually she’ll have a new Medical uniform, but oh well, you got the idea.
People come, people go, memory remains. This sentimental feeling is definitely not the first time. Just like a student that will graduate, a project has to come to a completion as well.
I feel blessed and glad that I get to do what I do now. Not just design but also communicate directly with clients.
Anyway, looks like everyone is going to have a long weekend, but too bad Good Friday isn’t a public holiday in West Malaysia, so we’re working like usual. Got to arrange the schedule nicely, cause end of this month (next weekend) will be a packing & moving time.
