Be aware of breast cancer

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Wiehanne Lounge is going pink as a support to Pink for October campaign, which encourage websites to go pink for October to raise money and awareness for breast cancer.

Alright, my blog design is already pink at the first place so nothing needed to be changed, except that I added the go-pink-for-october banner (offered by by Pat Dryburgh) at my sidebar.

I am an ignorant when it comes to breast cancer issue. But today, I was ‘awaken’ when my Mum delivered this news.

“Do you remember your ie-po (my grandma’s sister) *insert her name*? She was detected for having breast cancer at 4th stage and is hospitalized at Gleneagles hospital now.”

I was shocked,”What? Did she just know it recently or years ago?”

To my surprise, my Mum said that this ie-po of mine, 60 years old something, knows about her sickness (having breast cancer) since years ago!!! She even told my grandma about the black liquid flowing out from her breast. But, she refused to go to any hospital for checking and curing. Not only that, she hide the fact from her sons and daughters.

Why did she do that? All because of her stinginess. She has the money but she’s been living a very stingy life all the while. The only time when she is not stingy was not long ago when she went to US with her husband, paying a visit to her newly born grandchild.

Alright, maybe she has her own reason for doing so (being stingy). But for God sake, this is about breast cancer that can take over her life! Is it really worthy to save lots of money and risk her own health, life, time and happiness with her family? Sigh.

Money can’t buy health. Really. Unlike things like car, when the car parts are broken, we can get it fixed as long as we have the money. But it’s different with health. No matter how much money you have, you just couldn’t ‘fix’ it sometimes.

Pay more attention to your health, people (women and men). Breast cancer can attack anyone.
