Ohai 2012!

We have a well-deserved quiet and relaxing time at Langkawi island last week. No touristy stuff, basically just free and easy. I took the time to review 2011 and make notes for 2012.

It’s all good, except that I wish I had brought the laptop along. Working while facing the sea view is on my wish list for quite a long time. Can do research, can shop online with old navy coupons, do light work. :P

50 minutes flight. Duty free; chocolate, liquor, tobacco. Seafoods, yummy! Sunny day with clear blue sky on December the rainy season.

One of the beaches, Cenang, somewhat looks like Legian Kuta (Bali) area though in a much smaller scale. Bring back the memory and the urge to go back to Bali again. We were staying at the town area, good for duty free shopping but far from the beaches.

Day Trip to Kampong

Not a recent trip, but dated back in September 2010 last year which I haven’t blog about. :P

It was my first time going for a trip with hubby’s extended family (in-laws, aunties, uncles, cousins, etc), can feel how nervous I was. Also first time visiting a real small kampong/village; green scenery, wood house, no steel building, fresh air, peaceful.

We went there by speed-boat, followed by taking a ride on a Toyota Hilux. There was more than 15 people I guess, all fit in the Hilux, with ladies inside the car and the gentlemen standing at the back. Added on the bumpy road, it was quite an adventurous journey.

It was Eid Mubarak month, hence we had the chance to eat rendang, ketupat, etc.

It’s an eye-opener experience! Had a good time too, except when we we were packed like sardines in the Hilux. :P

Bukit Tinggi aka Berjaya Hills

Went to Bukit Tinggi (Pahang) on last Sunday, together with my Mum and lil bro. Relying on GPS, we managed to reach destination safely in around one hour plus time.

Highway (the above picture) was OK, but when road going uphill.. it was like a snake. Dizzy to the max.

Entrance fee is RM 12/adult. First we went to Colmar Tropicale, a French themed resort. Then continued driving to the Japanese Village. They have rabbit farm, jungle tracking, etc, but we didn’t go cause it was raining when we were at Japanese Village.

I’ve been seeing pictures of Colmar Tropicale online and I thought the place is quite large, have things to explore, but no. -__-” Just one road to walk that’s all, then resort, super duper expensive restaurants, spa, souvenir shop, small swimming pool, etc. 10 minutes walk, you’ll explore all. More than 10 minutes if you keep on taking pictures on every single spot.

No wonder it isn’t that popular, so small. The same thing with A’famosa. Went once, enough. Weather isn’t cool as well except when raining, Brastagi Highland back home has a better weather. But again, I’m biased. :P

We drove to Japanese Village, parked our car and have to walk an uphill to reach the destination. Yea, uphill. Once my Mum saw the steep road, she was like,”No, you’re kidding me? You guys go ahead, I’ll just stay here.” :P LOL. Of course no, we gave her support and walked along slowly.

We had lunch at the Japanese restaurant, overlooking the green scenery. It reminds me of Simalem Resort back in my hometown (can’t help not to compare :P ), which has a better view to the marvelous Lake Toba.

Though Bukit Tinggi ain’t that Wow like what I had in my mind, it’s a great way to spend my birthday. :)

Road Trip With Parent In Law

Ah, we are back to the life of just the two of us and work. Parent-in-law and sister-in-law were back to their home already, taking today early morning flight.

Yesterday we took a day off, replacing it with Sunday, by taking my in-law for a road trip to the historical town Melaka and the nearest beach Port Dickson. How time flies, it’s like yesterday only when parent took us for road trip and it’s the other way round now. I’m all grown up eh? *pat shoulder*

We departed at 10.30 am, took 2 hours to reach Melaka. Highlight of the trip is to have the famous chicken rice ball, shop at Jonker Street for antique table lamp though it’s less happening unlike weekend, no crowded stalls like on weekend), and visit the historical buildings esp. the red Stadthuys.

melaka

We spent 2 hours only in Melaka and off we went to Port Dickson. All of us never been to Port Dickson, we just relied on the GPS for direction. :P I only heard that the beach is dirty, brownish water unlike Perhentian Island. It took us about 90 minutes to reach there.

I’m loving the scenery on the way to PD. As for the beach, it’s not as dirty as what I have in my mind. It’s 100% better than Pantai Cermin the beach that we have back in my hometown Medan, in terms of cleanliness, water’s color, resorts, etc.

We were just there for sightseeing. Reached home around 6pm something or 7pm. Went to 2 places in 1 day by car, what an achievement for us. :P

Hey, It’s Me

I was supposed to blog about my passport + visa thing and the short getaway to kampong (read: village) due to Eid Mubarak day. But.. lazy to go through the picture folders, pick and edit those photos. Guess this 2010 will be the most boring and un-memorable year for my blog entries. :P

As a replacement, here’s a narcissism picture of me and my boy taken with the beloved Acer laptop’s webcam, incase my family and hometown friends miss me and wonder how is my look now. Cause I haven’t uploaded any new pictures to Facebook as well.

self-pic

Looking at the above pictures, was wearing hoodie because of the cold weather during night time and I was feeling unwell after the short getaway, thanks to the strong wind throughout the journey and lack of drinking water. Need a massage so badly. *calling Mommy* If can have massage table package, that will be even better.

And oh yes, my hair is so long already, just like when I was in the final year of college. I tie it up as a ponytail most of the time as weather is so hot and the curl is pretty loose already. Considering to chop it into Bob hairstyle again and be back with seventeen-years-old look. *cough cough*

Ok, that’s all. Gotta get back to work. :)
