So, yesterday was Sunday and also the first day of Hari Raya Idul Fitri. The town was super quiet. Almost everyone was out of town since most of the shops and companies are closed until Wednesday. Internet connection was so smooth that the page for term life insurance rates loaded faster than usual.
Initially we planned to stay for a night at Brastagi highland but the hotel’s room was oh-so-expensive, starts from IDR 1 million which is double the usual price. *sweat* Stay and chill at home seems to be the best choice.
But, my Bro was super boring at home, so off we went to The Hill Resort – also the place where I had my outdoor prewedding photos – after lunch just for a short getaway. Traffic was so smooth that we arrived the resort within 70 minutes drive or so. It was gloomy and felt somewhat cold.

I was busy taking pictures of the swans when someone shouted my name. I turn my body and saw a very familiar figure. I couldn’t help but to shout back,”Ah-ma!!” which is her nickname since highschool. Both of us was like,”Can’t believe will meet you here!” and walked into the white gazebo to catch up with each other, from I-heard-that-you-are-getting-married to her-stressful-yet-happy-life-as-a-wife-and-young-mum to gain-weight topic. Not long after that, it started to rain.

Ever since she married and moved to Jakarta, we hardly see each other. Furthermore she doesn’t have facebook account but good thing is, she comes back few times in a year. The last time we met was on February this year.

Look at her cheeks and her Dora’s hair. So cute and pretty!!!
It was also my first time seeing her more-than-one-year-old-daughter. I have a mixture feeling, my first time being referred to as ie-ie/auntie by my friend’s daughter. I am old. Arghh!!
Anyway, it looks like law of attraction does work. It was on saturday when I went out with my friends, talked about Sibolga and I mentioned about ‘Ah-ma’ blablabla. Jan also mentioned about doesn’t want to be referred as ie-ie but jie-jie. Then the next day I met her! Coincident or what?
The unplanned visit
Earlier this year, one of my auntie thought of bringing her son back to Medan for school holiday on June. But she cancelled it later on. Out of a sudden, her in-law passed away (last 2 weeks) and they had to go back Medan. Talk about fate?

He always not able to finish his food. But he managed to break the record on last Saturday night, when he finished the seafood fried rice from Nelayan Shanghai Kitchen although he just ate a small portion of rice at Grandma’s place. And, the plate was super clean! Thumbs up!

We went to Hill Park Sibolangit on Sunday (with Grandma, my parents, brother, auntie and the son, another auntie and family). It’s been a while since we last went out in a huge group like this.

Had a sightseeing at The Hill, hotel and resort, nearby Hill Park. They have a nice scenery, beautiful white cottages in the middle of the mini lake, and geese (that worth don’t know how much million rupiah). No wonder many people has used this place for their pre-wedding-photograph session. I also want!
But the place is quite far from Medan.

I didn’t take any ride. Weather was too hot – bright and sunny. Besides, they haven’t add any new attraction aside from the 4D theater which is quite expensive for me. Seeing from the advertisement on newspaper, it doesn’t look like it will worth the money.

The shortest one is the youngest one. But the tallest one is not the eldest one. She is one year younger than the-second-taller-cousin-on-left-hand-side. Her shoes’ number is one size bigger than mine and almost as tall as me. Wtf? Why am I so short.

Had lunch at somewhere near Hill Park. Sort of restaurant plus fishing place. There was a fishing competition going on at that time.

First time ever I saw such a huge fish. A bit euweee…
Auntie and cousin is back to Jakarta this evening. Flight was delay, probably will arrive in another 1 hour or so. I’m off to finalize my packing. My flight is on tomorrow morning. Gotta prepare myself for a total 6 days, or 144 hours, without computer and internet. I’ll see if I can ‘survive’ or not.
Good news for Medanese. Now we don’t need to take a 2 hours flight to Jakarta for a roller coaster ride at Dufan (Dunia Fantasi). Cause we have a new theme park, Hill Park Sibolangit, that is located up hill in Sibolangit, about 1 hours ride from Medan. It is planned to be the largest theme park in Sumatra island.

I went there with the family on last wednesday. Hah! That’s the joy of being a WAH woman, I can travel on the weekday.
We rent a car with a driver cause my dad was not around. The journey was smooth with a little bit of traffic jam.

The entrance ticket is at IDR.12.000 per person. The theme park is divided into 3 section; The Lost World with a lot of rides, Toon Town for kids, and some Hill park castle (I forget the name
). The water park section is still under development. Oh, I can’t wait for it to be finished.

Anyway, each ride cost us IDR.10.000 to IDR.12.000. Imagine if you wanna take all of the ride, IDR.100.000 is not enough. That is only for 1 person, imagine if someone brings 3 kids. How expensive it will be. I hope it will use “the entrance ticket + all ride” system like Dufan or Sunway Lagoon.

I think the all-time-favourite-ride in Hill Park is the roller coaster called Gelegar. The roller coaster was build in a not so large ground with a complicated rails. I had no balls to take a ride on it since it was new and the scene in Final Destination 3 kept playing in my mind.

Kincir Raksasa (Giant wheel) became our choice. The 3 of us thought that the ride would be less scary than roller coaster. But no! When we were up there, none of us dare to look around or even moved the body. Err, except the boyfriend I guess. I tried so hard to kill the height fear because the scenery was oh so beautiful~! When I started to get used to it, we had reached the ground already. What? IDR.12.000 for only 1 round – 360 degree turning? It should be at least twice.

From The Lost World, we continued to explore the Toon Town where all things were so cute and colorful. There is an artificial tree house too. It is free for the first 2 ride. After that, you will need to pay.

Then, we saw the mini petting zoo where I accidentally splashed my white pants with the mud. -___-” The mini petting zoo is filled with various type of chickens, ducks, rabbit, horse, goat, and mouse deer. It is quite secial for city people like us.

The next destination is the indoor games at the castle. The place is used to be a casino hence the interior is a bit grand.
We spend about 3 to 4 hours in the Hill Park. The crowd came after lunch time when we were about to leave the park.
