Testing new webcam

Wuih finally I have the time to test this webcam . October is a crazy busy messy month with long to-do-list just like pa job listings board.

I bought the webcam during the one week trip to KL on August, at LowYat Plaza the IT paradise in Bukit Bintang. So many choices to go for, from branded webcam like Microsoft to made-in-China brand. Live demo was available and staffs were pretty helpful.

Unlike the IT shop in Medan, especially in shopping complex, always hire young women who knows nothing about computer stuffs and only know how to keep an eye on the shop. I’m not asking the shop owner to hire a geeky worker, but someone who has some knowledge about IT and computer will do.

Anyway, the webcam was bought at RM39.90, slightly cheaper than the lousy Genius Eye 110 which I bought last year at IDR.165.000 (around RM60). It has LED lights that can be adjusted and built-in microphone but I haven’t figure out how to make it works.

See above picture, the quality of this webcam is so much better than the lousy Genius Eye 110. LED light was turn on and no photoshop effect is used in the picture.

The webcam also have special effect such as windy, ripple, blablabla and frames. It’s me and my brother in the picture.

There is this one effect called monitor, with 9 frames. Each frame will be updated in few seconds. I have to change pose real fast so that I can have 9 different poses. I also need to be fast enough to click the capture button after the 9th frame and before it goes back to the 1st frame. Pfiuh.

Bottom line, this has to be one of the best buying I ever made this year.

Wishlist #2 accomplished!

Yes! Wishlist #2 accomplished! I’ve got the webcam although it’s in black and not pink. Put it next to the picture frames and printer now. I thought I will buy it when I go KL this tuesday but well, why wait if I can get it here. This makes me a little bit regret later on.

Anyway, I bought the Genius Eye 110 at IDR.165.000. This is the first time I bought an electronic stuff without trying it first. What to do. When I asked the shopkeeper to try the webcam, she gave me the face as if it is the hardest work to do on this earth and said that she couldn’t help me. -__-”

So, I bought base on the brand name (I thought since it’s Genius, can’t be so lousy eh?) and also the specification on the box. Actually, because it is the cheapest one among other webcam.

The above is the picture quality of the new webcam, Genius Eye 110, with size: 320 x 240. The picture looks rather crispy and dark since it doesn’t have the LED light. It’s a bit of disappointment to me.

The old broken webcam has a better quality than the Genius one. But it’s broken down already. Never mind, it’s not for a long term. So, let it be.

Wishlist #2: Webcam

My CMOS webcam, that I bought a year ago, has broken down after a few months usage. It’s been a while that I didn’t use it. When I plugged it to my laptop, what I got was a blur picture.

Go to Photoshop and set the gaussian blur to 10, it is roughly like that. I have no idea what is wrong, so the IDR.170.000 webcam has been kept inside the drawer since then.

I have forgotten about the webcam cause the boyfriend can’t use the Macbook’s webcam in MSN. So, we’ve been searching for messenger that allows video call for both PC and Mac & really works one. We tried video chat with YM! for million times but didn’t work. I could see his video for about 5 seconds and then PUFF! Gone already. -___-” Oh my, how I wish I could get an iMac or mac mini at that time.

Until recently, we tried again and it worked! That means, it’s time for me to get a new webcam! I don’t say I must get the pink quickcam from Logitech (although it will be great if I do ). Any webcam will do. As long as it can work and the picture is not so lousy.

I shall spend some time checking out the computer shops at Plaza Medan Fair for the best deal, since most of the computer shops in YangLim Plaza has closed down already.
