Launching new wp theme!

Horay! Finally, the theme is finished after 1 month plus of delaying. What took it so long is the design part (I kept on changing to get what I want), coding is just a while. Oh well, the boyfriend works so fast like lightning. :P

Anyway, the girl illustration is originally by Chihang (found it in istockphoto) and I modified the illustration to suit me. Yes, it is supposed to be the mini me. :P I named this wp theme – Miss Pinkie. Besides that, I have also changed the title of this blog, from Cabe Rawit Lady to Wiehanne Lounge. ;)

The previous theme is ‘simply’ from Scribble Scratch.

I still feel there is something lack with the light pink background. Oh well, will change it when free. Rushing design work now. Last minute work again, dammit. Why can’t give me earlier? Ishhh…

Helpful site in designing wp theme

After few weeks of sinking myself in designing my blog – wordpress theme, I am finally coming to the end. Yippie! I have found a suitable blog title, more descriptive than Cabe Rawit Lady which is a combination between Indonesia language and English. I also have a simple tagline to match the title. Most importantly, the design itself. Simple and pink. No mumbo jumbo design.

As this is my very first time designing wordpress theme, I did a lot of research and see a lot of inspiring blog design, until I stop myself from seeing furthermore. Or else, I will want to put in all the element of design. :P

The series Blog design from scratch from “blog design blog” helps me alot, especially the article How to Blog Design Style Guide. The author pointed out 9 elements that needs to be given attention in designing blog, which are:
1. Header
2. Content Area
3. Primary Navigation
4. Secondary Navigation
5. Headlines
6. Comments
7. Post’s Footer
8. Footer
9. Advertisements

After final check with my wp theme, I shall forward it to the boyfriend for coding. ;) One day, I will be able to code it myself. Now, I’ll get back to my weekend reading, a 55 pages pdf files of how to code wordpress theme from wpdesigner.com.

Sneak peak of my wordpress theme

Still remember my words about designing a new wordpress theme for this blog? Oh well, it’s been a week since then. It is still in progress though. I have finished the content layout but I am having a hard time with the header design and the title’s font. It is as hard as choosing HDMI cables. Still making my mind to go for which way.

The overall look is very pinkie and organized. I want to have the look of chic lit’s cover too. This wordpress theme is gonna be Oh-so-me, from the color to the design, from the layout arrangement to the blog’s title. I have set a deadline for myself. I’ll finish the design by this weekend. After that, it is the boyfriend’s part to coding it.

I’m so excited cause this is my first ‘made-by-me’ blog theme. If everything goes smooth, both of us will have another area to venture on. ;)

Finding the right wordpress theme

It is as difficult as looking for a soul mate. Perhaps because I am too picky and perfectionist. Since I moved from blogger to wordpress 7 months ago, I have changed and tried at least 10 themes. Not a good sign.

After the cute collage theme, I went crazy over paper and notes theme. I thought of giving my blog a diary look. Not long after that, I had my eyes on premium theme. I told myself to keep it simple and mature (read: pro). I’ve used the red several theme for almost 2 months and I found myself hunting for themes since last week. -__-”

The current theme from scribblescratch[dot]com is almost there. I can feel it. :P After a several research, I decide to settle down for a long term theme. I will design the blog layout myself and ask the boyfriend’s help in the coding part. I’m thinking of branding the site and put a portfolio section.

This is way much effective and cheaper than an online design studio that charged USD85 for a template. Siao. But this changing might takes weeks to a month time. Because the boyfriend is busy with the end of semester project while I am still thinking for the right concept.

Wish me luck ;)
